God so loved the world

Everything Jesus did confused the religious folks of His day. He hung out with tax collectors, sinners and the people they reviled the most. They could not see what God was plainly demonstrating to them; Jesus loves the world while they hated the world. Stuck in a religious system of self proclamation and self righteousness they could not understand that God Himself would spare no effort to reach the lost, the broken and the discarded.
My question is this: Is today's church any different? If someone in raggedy clothes stumbled into a service smelling of body odor, wine and maybe worse would he be cared for? Or would he be cast out as an undesirable presence not worthy of the company of those sitting in their pews?
Jesus loved the world- selah

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Yes, Jesus will accept us at the lowest point in our lives. Jesus truly demonstrated unconditional Love. Jesus meets us and takes us on a life-changing journey of restoration. Oh, how I love Jesus..

Unfortunately, some churches are like this. I had this experience once, I wasn't dirty or smelling of wine, my only fault was I was a little late in getting a hair-cut. My hair was almost to my shoulders. I went to this really nice church, they had great music, the preacher gave a really good sermon and I thought, "this is a church I could come back to". After the sermon, the friends I came with had to pick up a child from Sunday school and I waited outside by the door. Not one person spoke to me or would even look at me and I thought, "that's odd". So I asked my friend why and he said it was because my hair was too long. I got my hair cut short the next week, but I never went back to that church again.

God loves that smelly, raggedy clothes soul and we are to love and welcome them too. The Hymn "Just As I Am" comes to mind.

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidd'st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
VERSE #2
Just as I am, and waiting not,
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
VERSE #3
Just as I am, tho' tossed about,
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings within and fears without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
VERSE #4
Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind,
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
VERSE #5
Just as I am, Thou wilt recieve,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve,
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
VERSE #6
Just as I am, Thy love unknown,
Hath broken every barrier down;
Now to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Amen x 10! God loved me when I stunk of this sinful world.
