Hey,

Are you traveling this Christmas or staying home? What foods are you serving on your Christmas table.

We are not traveling this year but I pray I feel up to preparing a Prime Roast Rib, whipped sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, green beens and for dessert, sweet potatoe pie and cream cheese lemon pound cake.

Now that sounds awesome. Praying it all comes to pass deliciously.

Our family tradition has been to meet at one our children's home for Christmas eve dinner and they rotate that from year to year, and then all the family gathers at Grandma & Grandpa's house for Christmas lunch.

Instead of cooking the traditional Turkey or Ham this year, we are catering ribs, chicken, potato salad and BBQ beans.

Sounds delicious! :)
I always stay home; we serve turkey and some of the trimmings - my Mum roasts a potato and uses this as a base and the turkey served on top (all of trimmings such as mashed potato, carrots, sprouts, stuffing, pigs in blankets and more are served around the edge).
To finish we have cheese and biscuits. :sneaky:

That's a wonderful family tradition.

Yea, we did not want the traitional Ham and Turkey either. But, the ribs, chicken, potato salad and beans sounds delicious. Barbecue chicken is sounding good as an add on since I try to stay away from a lot of beef. My husband wants the beef and I was trying to think of something I wanted to eat.

Thank you Major....I am fixing barbecue chicken.

Holy Ground, your meal sounds delicious. I love to hear when family gather together and the meals they prepare. It is truly memories that will never be forgotten and sets the stage for the younger generation to continue the traditions. Thank you for sharing.

This is a truly wonderful thing to do Major.

Honestly.......my wife is the cook and she had back surgery recently and just is not up to standing and cooking and such. Sonney's BBQ is just a mile away so we thought, why not!
Let them cook and we can just pick it up.

You have a great Christmas sister!

We are meeting at one of our friends house. We would probably cook some chicken and goat, in Indian style. Some 4 or 5 families are meeting. We have a morning service at 7:00AM at Indian church. Will attend that and go to friends house and spend rest of the time there.

Miss those days back in India. We used to have 3:00AM service. I attended those as a kid and never complained :) Get up at 2:00AM in the morning, take bath when it's so cold and go out in the dark. thinking there would be no one. And the Church would be so crowded they would put chairs outside the Church. Most of the kids fell asleep before the service got over. While it may not have been very spiritual ( :) ), it was a good reminder for the kids on reverence to Lord on Christmas and what is most important (that is, Christ in Christmas)

I pray your wife is feeling better. Nothing wrong with ordering out and picking it up....I just had surgery not too long myself and I may not be able to prepare all I want to prepare either. But I will thank God for the strength to prepare what I can and thank God for the hot food section of the local grocery store. It will still be good eats....lol

Yea, I miss those days when my grandmother was alive and we would go to visit her all the time in North Carolina. She would have us up before the roosters and chickens were up. At the time, I thought we had to be the only people alive getting up that early in the morning. And you are right it is a good reverence to the Lord because the first thing we did was pray when we got up. And, it was because of those times and lessons that I learned to thank God every morning when He awakens me. There are lessons in those things we don't understand as a child but when a child grows up, they never forget and pull up those lessons and apply to their lives.

Thank you for your concern. She fractured her back and they injected concrete to hold the vertebras in place. She is a lot better but still not what she would like to be.

Merry Christmas!

Thank God she is feeling a lot better. Back pain will take a person off their feet. Thank God she is able to move about a little. Have a very merry and blessed Christmas to you and your family.

Sonney's BBQ? You definetly have to be down south. Lol. We love stopping there every time we visit FL. (y)

We will be having roast beef, Cranberry salad, mashed potatoes, gravy, mashed sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, crescent rolls and a cherry desert with puff pastry.

Plus cinnamon rolls and maybe potatoes and eggs for breakfast.
