Coronavirus spreading around the world

hope your all well good humans.😊

I got really cross this morning when I got home from work and found a message from a social media site in my messages from a distant family member informing me of a hoax . I never use social media except here. But the content was disturbing and it’s no wonder some people are panicking and hoard buying.
thank the Lord I use trusted sites for my news.
I think there is a lot of scare mongering posts going round about the virus and I’m so glad I’m not a part of it. yes I do agree on these strict measures our governors are taking and rightly so. The 1918 flu pandemic was awful.
I hope after all this is over someone traces all this fake news and deals with them harshly

I will volunteer my time if need be to track them down😡

oh too bad your children just miss out on some great books rtm.

Sounds terrible.
We have this books called 'Diary of a Minecraft Zombie' series and it's actually a send up of a kid who turns into a zombie playing minecraft all day, every day. You think kids do work or learn lessons on computers? Nope, the moment your back is turned they'll be accessing games, and porn. cos the games link to the porn sites, and the parent's credit cards, (saved on computer) and everything else.

I do remember the days when we had computers without internet. The only game you could play was a pinball or a card game. Not shoot em ups.

I had a teacher she couldn't mark her roll cos her cursor wouldn't work on her laptop. Thing is, one computer per child some households can only share computer time. With books you can have as many as you want, and you can swap and borrow amongst friends. And they are free.

My granddaughter just started school and she got computer based homework on her first day.

They are still exposed to literature, but it is digital and not hardcopy. Because of my generation, I have always enjoyed holding on to a book, despite the fact that I do not really read just for the sake of reading. Well, I do the bible and it is a physical book. My professional life brings with it a great deal of reading already. Personally, I am not all that sure why we still have physical books. I think now that books, just like paper money and coins, exists mostly out of tradition.

Just hoping that the cross country and cross global router hubs can handle the extra traffic.

A couple of years ago, I was given a tour of the Miami facility that maintains the physical internet cables that connects us to parts of south America and the Caribbean. If you look at the water from the southern most point in Key West, you can actually see the cable. It's pretty cool and I am unsure if most people know that we also have a physical connection around the world.

thats silly because most children aged 6 can't handle screen inputs. Its actually not good for their eyes, but they need to learn how to read first on paper. Babies need board books and then they go on to picture books, then it's early readers, audio and picture, then chapter books, and graphic (comic) books. A lot of books these days are better illustrated, I look at books published 20-30 years ago and the picture quality and fonts are often just black and white and not engaging. You can now even get touchy-feely books, which are great for those who learn kinestheically and are tactile. Another is braille books, for the blind.

You seems to have a different mindset or maybe where you live is more rich I don't know. When I studied my library papers in Singapore, they thought I was weird for not having a handphone. (cellphone) They also had tap and go transport cards, when in NZ they only just got them in the past decade. Last year broadband was finally put in and free wifi is now common everywhere. Before that you had to use dial up and it was very slow, when the internet crashed you couldn't do much because ppl were downloading way too much.

I have this ipad thats about 10 years old still, but I hardly use the e-reader thing or i-books that it comes with. I don't think its that I'm not digitally naitve as such but that books are just better to read. Things like textbooks etc yes thats better as who wants to deal with all that paperwork and photocopying, but there will always be a place for books.

When schools shut their libraries and said everyone had to learn online, they realised that it didn't actually work for their students and some had to put the books back. I have an entire space that used to be occupied by computers, now everything is gone wireless, we can put books back there. As books are wireless. Now that people have smartphones (instead of desk computers) everything is more portable, but still there is a place for books cos you just can't share things in the way you can with books.

I was reading with my mum the other day from a book. I would rather do that than watch tv.

NZ is now going to level 4 alert, so schools shut this afternoon.
I was giving out crayons and pencils and pens, as many books as children could borrow, and books as prizes. Hopefully it will see them through (school holidays are brought forward). Borrowing times are extended.

If I were to just watch tv the entire holidays my brains would turn to mush.

Indian tonic water - with quinine.

If you can't get that then just stay away from people. Wear a mask or scarf over your face and nose when you go out and don't go within coughing or spitting distance. Wash your hands and clean all surfaces. esp things like door knobs. Don't share stuff you are always touching and wipe them clean after use.
Wash your clothes and change them every day if you can. Plus towels cloths etc. Basic hygiene measures.

I don't think any of us knew that when we turned the clocks forward this year from Standard Time, that we would end up in the Twilight Zone. Take care and be well.

1pm News report 1st fatality from coronovirus in nz :-(

We have 513 cases. Praying everyone keep safe, a firewall of protection around NZ and those affected healed in Jesus mighty name.

I don't want to make light of Coronavirus, too many people have passed away, and the worry is very real. As Christians though we need to keep our feet firmly on the ground. There was the so-called Asian Flu, and the so called Spanish Flu. The difference is that air travel is easier/ cheaper and more often, therefore more frequent contact, with more people. From a spiritual viewpoint, this pandemic is not of the proportions of the plagues in Revelation. Yes we should Pray, No we shouldn't sermonise, and definitely not demonise people from China or Wuhan, but we should live as ambassadors for Christ.

Lanolin. I have come to this forum in a spirit of reconciliation and to allow grace its correct place. At the moment the Coronavirus pandemic is not on the scale of the biblical plagues were 1/3 will die to each one. For None Believers in the spiritual sense we are in the end times. However if we are in the days of judgement, we will see obvious signs and they are not there. I was very careful also not to belittle anyone's genuine fear, and I still dont. It is a worrying time. I would also like to say the word ... actually... should be used sparingly as it conveys the sentiment that the person using it is superior, intellectually and that only they have all the facts. As I say in my Bio, Im sixty one and learnt that lesson, ad its consequences, so I would only ask that you consider other options, the word perhaps is one Im finding more useful. Perhaps, you could look at this viewpoint. Sorry if you felt offended, after checking I dont think my post was.

Dear brothers and sisters;

While reading everyone's response to Hobie's thread, I feel though we may be expressing "facts" regarding COVID-19 in our own communitIes, country and across the miles, this topic is allowing some of us to express our personal emotions and understandably so.

Jesus commands us to become discipled to the Scripture and apply them in our daily individual lives and with each other, indeed. Jesus doesn't expect us to become numb to the Scriptures for He understands we're still people with feelings and emotions and need to express them, especially during these times of the pandemic.

Jesus chose to come down to earth in the flesh of a man, and had a human nature, a human will...Jesus wept - John 11:35. He overcame and never sinned. Jesus also hears my wife and I, daily, because we have personally become anxious during the virus. I cannot take the place of Jesus, He knows this and Praise God, He understands us. What a relief He knows we have feelings while giving us all guidance to overcome with hope.

This is why this topic is so important for us to exchange facts representing our "back yards" but to allow our brothers and sisters to share from their hearts in this discussion, and for us to receive more by listening which in itself can be encouraging.

Hebrews 10:25, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

On a personal note regarding this thread, Coronavirus spreading around the world has allowed me to read each of your posts and feel that I'm not alone. It would be a shame if Christian Forum Site wasn't even discussing what should be on top of our personal concerns and corporate prayers.

Lets keep our firm foundation in Christ Jesus, and keep writing, everyone. God is moving in this topic while moving across all nations.
