Journal The Cabin

I have learned to recognize different things that most people would miss because I am a listener... I can tell the moods of the birds around here.
but I was thinking of the crows. They have a huge vocabulary... and I have learned over the 10 years here to decipher when they are MAD!!!

Good morning, In Awe of Him;

It's like an orchestra when the birdies chirp outside our window. To me they do seem to have a large vocabulary, sounding happy, warning other birdies, may be hungry, all at the same time coming from different birdies.

If chickens were included in this group, their vocabulary would sound like one of two modern human species, clucking and gossiping.

🤜 😎 lol!!!

Here the crows are quite "overtaking" of the area so all I usually hear is a bunch of noise. HA
I do love the coos of the pigeon though. No one likes the pigeons cuz they just seem to like to
leave their droppings... and they raid the bird feeders that are meant to feed the chickadees.

My favourite birds are the wood-pecker... I can hear them right away... and then it's like FIND WALDO to see them as
our trees are many and very high.

Happy Sunday to you.

First week back to school here at the CABIN... for the snail family!
This year.... Frannie is learning how to read.... and she will also be learning how to cook.
I suspect that Mr. Moose will be getting a plethora of treats dropped off at his shed door.

I love this time of year... even though this year... we are experiencing extra low temps. It seems
it has gone from hot to cold with no in between. I am anticipating a few days of what we call
Indian summer... but for now... it's COOL BABY!!! As I write... it's a balmy 44.7 degrees F.

I need to think of something EXCITING to bring to the CABIN. My brain needs to think about what that might be.

If anyone has any ideas.... PLEASE include them.

HAPPY MONDAY!!!! Love, DA SHEEP

How about folks adding to a list of things that should be brought in for sale in the Convenience Store Outpost addition?

'Moose Antler Polish'

and of course, 'peanut butter cups and fizzy drinks'

just to name a few...

I can ALWAYS depend on the WISDOM of a well "seasoned" Kentucky back-woods... hillbilly... road-kill specialist.

THANK YOU.... THANK YOU..... I am late in leaving for my walk... and on my way to the dock... I shall think of the OUTPOST and things that would DRAW in a CROWD.

PLEASE feel free to leave your list... and we will do our BEST to stock and supply.

More staples for the Outpost:

'Tooth Brush' for my cousin Bubba. He's only got one tooth, otherwise he would need a 'teeth brush'.

'Kerosene' for the lamps in the back woods homes.

'Flypaper' rolls to get rid of them flies buzzing around Mr. Moose.

'Hunting knives' for cleaning out turkeys, deer and possums.

'Mason jars' for storing Moonshine.

'8-Track tapes' from Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson.

'Chewin' Tabacky and brass spitoons'.

Old Sears catalogs for the outhouse.

`

I got fancy with a trick that crossnote taught me the other day.... Instead of the line through.... I put the line under the words to high light them.
Sometimes I love NEW TRICKS.

CLEARLY.... Mr. Moose is an opposable thumb wanna-be. I think this is his way of declaring ( with FACTS ) that he is not going to be available to put up any shelving units within the OUTPOST.

With that said.... ONLY those with opposable thumbs need apply to help us get our shelving units UP. :D

An opposable thumb is

a digit, typically the thumb, that can touch the tips of the other fingers on the same hand, allowing for a powerful and precise grip on objects.

This adaptation, found in primates and some other animals, is crucial for manipulating tools, foraging for food, and navigating arboreal environments. In humans, opposable thumbs are notably long and powerful, contributing to our ability to develop complex tools and use them effectively.

Public Service Announcement

I set up a special container outside for OLD and USED toothbrushes. Please recycle your toothbrush and put it in the container outside the BACK of the Cabin. Bubba can grab them as he needs for his ONE tooth. :D

Aw, that's so kind of y'all. I'll let Bubba know about that right soon, I reckon.

Bubba's over in the next county today gettin' some "fast food.' He heard from a buddy that a deer got hit at 70 miles per hour and Bubba's gonna gather up what's left for the freezer.

Y'all take care, now, y'hear.

I do love Simon's Cat. Im a big fan of the goofy thing; he reminds me of ours.

When I was a kid I did have a plastic horse on springs in the basement to ride on.
I was only allowed to indulge when my mom was doing laundry.
It was her way of keeping me out of her hair to get it done.
I finally broke a spring when I was 5 or 6. My mom would not let my dad fix it.
She said I was too old for such nonsense, meaning I was old enough to do laundry.
I still miss my horsie; his name was Brownie.

Good morning my beautiful forum family...

It's SUNDAY!!! and.... It's the middle of September... ALREADY!!

I have been reflecting on the fragility of life... How we really have NO idea how long we have on this earth... and how
everything can change in one split second. I am feeling a heaviness since the horrific assassination of such a young soul... who was simply trying to have a public conversation with the world in a most civilized manner.

I am now witnessing the very public shaming of those in all sorts of positions who CHOSE to make "cruel" statements on social media regarding the situation which unfolded this week. It never ends... and it never gets better and my heart is deeply grieved by how quickly the QUALITY of life as we knew it... is disintegrating.... right before our very eyes.

The above pictures that I posted are all AI generated... and somehow... I never noticed before that probably 50% of the content I receive ( and I am talking about my Facebook feed ) is AI generated. This has alarmed me... and... it has AWAKENED me to be ultra CAUTIOUS regarding what I read and believe. Gone are the days where we can take things at face value. We are being deceived and lied to at warp speed.

It reminds me of WHY God tells us NOT to be of this world... but rather set apart. Scripture also tells us to keep our lanterns lit and ready.... for we do not know the day or the hour of His return.

Watchfulness

“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning,
like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

Oh my goodness... I had planned on being done with the stupid pictures of rainbow bugs.... but I could NOT resist.... and I spit my coffee when I saw this. This is almost as good as the North American House Hippo. HAHAHAHAHA.

This is the LEAF SHEEP – The Solar-Powered Sea Slug!
😍

This tiny sea slug, nicknamed the “leaf sheep,” looks like a cartoon sheep but lives in the ocean.
Found near Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia, it feeds on algae and can actually perform photosynthesis, turning sunlight into energy just like a plant!

✨
Fun Fact: It’s one of the only animals in the world that can photosynthesize, earning it the title of a “solar-powered sea slug.”
