Enoch

Not debating hand raised asking… ???

Aren’t the two witnesses in Revelation killed after 2 yrs of testifying in Jerusalem???

As she types and doesn’t look it up
Like she should… uh oh.
Not to misquote for sure.
Not this book!

Going with Brother Major on Scripture only.
The Bible does not give a specific time.

Revelation 11:7 says........
"And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit will make war on them and conquer them and kill them".

However, Rev. 11:3 says....
"And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”

All Bible scholars I know understand that the Tribulation Period is SEVEN years pr 2520 days. Therefore, if the two witnesses do their work for 1260 days, that is at the mid-way point of the SEVEN year Tribulation point.

Therefor, the simple math tells us that They are killed at the 3 and 1/2 year mark of the Tribulation.

The Rapture.....The TWO Witnesses begin their work, 1260 days later they are killed, Resurrected 3 days later and then 1260 days later is the end Coming.

Thanks Maj!

Yes. They are killed at the 3 and 1/2 year mark of the Tribulation.

Golly sometimes I feel the depletion of my remaining brain cells more than others.
My husband and I do “reality checks” all the time like … today is Saturday right?

Now here’s the kickers

Are we in the Tribulation yet?
Does 3 1/2 yrs mean the linear 3 1/2 we humans use?
And ever wonder that Jesus said He was not told when either?

WATCH and WAIT.

Sounds good.

Since Jude only makes reference to a specific prophecy by the person Enoch, I would suggest that would not necessarily imply Jude believed the book of Enoch itself was Scripture.

That is if Jude did in fact use the book of Enoch as his source for the prophecy.
Jude simply said that in the book of 1 Enoch, such and such is stated. That is in fact not quoting from it.

Thanks Maj!

NO we are not in the Tribulation!

The Tribulation is not for the Church of born again believers. IT is for the nation of Israel and mainly the Jews.

In Bible prophetic languages, a prophetic year is always 360 days. 30 days for every month.

Why did God not tell Jesus when to return?????

IMHO, it is a deep water Southern Baptist theological answer that lies in the incarnation. So, when Jesus said He did not know when He would return, He was actively humbling Himself and taking the form of a servant. That is called "Kenosis"!

Since no other mortal knows the time of Jesus’ return—that information is the Father’s alone and since Jesus voluntarily restricted His knowledge on that point, It had to be part of Jesus’ submission to the Father and His mission to live a human life.

Some things Jesus apparently chose to “give up the rights” to be privy to during His earthly ministry. The knowledge of when He would return was one of those things.

Jude never mentions a book of Enoch. The Greek word for "book" does not appear in the text. Jude refers to a specific prophecy made by the person Enoch.

I never claimed Jude was quoting the book of Enoch.

I did play 1st base for about 12 years in school.

Good morning, Major;

I don't mean to sideline this topic but I didn't know you played baseball? Were you a homerun hitter?

I thought you were more of a football player. I played baseball and was a lefty pitcher.

I also managed Little League for 6 years and fought more with the parents than the kids. lol!

That's great, Major.

Ha!

A klutz here but I gotcha’ on athletes in the family.

All I could do was draw a charge as a guard and fall down. Never could make the foul shots in inter-murals.

My momma a coach of girls round ball 🏀 her HS girls written up in Sports Illustrated in 1972 for winning a game 106-0 playing a much larger school in another district.

She was on the WAVEs 🌊 BB team in WWII as a forward.

And as a girl sent home a boy from the yard football 🏈 with a bloody nose 👃🏾
Our OU Football field named after the hapless boy Peden.

Ah good answer on the how’s come Jesus didn’t know when the Second Coming would be.

Something tells me He knows now!

Dunno if anyone has a bead on the time exactly of those on earth now.

Let us take heart however Jesus has cut the term short lest there be no one left to look up.

What!!! Your mom's high school girls basket ball team won 106-0?!? How does that happen against a much larger team?

Sounds like a David against Goliath.

😎👍!!!

She was awesome! Refused to lose. Retired undefeated after 3 yrs.

Took 3 1/2 yrs for myeloma to take her.

She was a league champion mixed doubles in her retirement community.
The guys fought to be her partner.
She never lost a trophy.

106-0 I would not have believed it myself unless I was sitting in the auditorium first row shouting myself hoarse. Returned from freshman year December break 1971 to watch the remarkable spectacle. Her lead forward scored over 40 pts. Many of her players went on to star at OSU women’s BB.

NO mam, no one knows. We can observe the prophetic signs all arund us and think the time is near, but we do not know.

As Jesus is fully man and God, it would be inconsistent to think that the Son does not know what the Father knows.
However, IMHO It is not that He does not know, or cannot know this day, but that this is not consistent with His role as the Son.

Bob
yes sir, I played both and had a scholarship in baseball.

My father was a die hard New York Yankee fan and he had me playing Little League till I was 12, then Pony League until the 9th grade and then 4 years in high school and 4 more in College.
Played 1st base and catcher.

I really do not remember how many homeruns I hit in all those years. it was a lot harder then with wood bats than today with metal.
And on top of that, most of the baseball fields back in the day did not have outfield fences. You could hit a ball a country mile and somebody would run it down and you would get a triple.

I did the little league thing for my sons team for 6 years till he turned 14. I agree, some parents were, shall I say challenging!

HEY apologies to Learning To Let Go...
The morph queen did it again.
I lead others astray.
<oops> :(

Back to Enoch...
Interesting guy to be sure.
He may have spooked some folks since it's a pretty dark book perhaps harder to get through than Jeremiah or Daniel.
Guessing.

One note should y'all want to go to an outside open forum check out REDDIT.com for the more opinionated questions/answers.
I do LIMIT what I post "in public" and have learned to read mostly.

The Complete Book of Enoch, Standard English Version

Book 1 - Watchers - Ch. 1 - Blessing of Enoch

The scriptures mention the Book of Enoch, so why do Christians reject it?
The Bible references many books, it does not mean that they are all scripture (see multiple references in both the old and the New Testament, note here that the Jews didn't consider it scripture either). As per Jesus in Matthew, he is not talking about the book of Enoch, he is speaking to Sadducees who did not believe in the resurrection and disregarded significant portions of the Old Testament - specifically here Daniel and Isaiah. For more information on the Book of Enoch from a Christian perspective Wes Huff provides a nice brief video of information:

Back at yea Maj,

NOT playing Jesus here or on TV or movies or LORD FORBID (literally) put words in HIS mouth I just was kind of mystified why He added not even The Son giving the Apostles The Olivet.

Endangering leading the morph train out of the station ... I watch the (some would say heretical) The Chosen feeling fairly confident I know Scripture and can discern the dramatization vs. The Word.

The poor folks gathered before the crucifixion (this season offering) are a mess of sorrow getting the I AM leaving you speech.
Yes, fictionalized dialogue but the ones playing the followers surely emot the absolute crest fallen one would imagine well.

The (real) Disciples and Apostles walked with Him!
They loved Him so much!
They were told they couldn't follow.
Had no idea what He was talking about not leaving them orphans.

You folks interested in the more obtuse studies of ancient scrolls may want to scroll (pun intended) through this to see if it mentions ENOCH as part of the plunder found by the shepherd boy in the caves.
It was. We have already address that.

WOWy zowy O!

Good catch!
My eyes are fried... glad you scrolled for us.

Now for Major and friends here is something else to scroll thru.

NOT saying they (BSO) are right because sorry I don't get into prophesy at all.
NOT my line.

Bible Study Org: Timeline of Man's Last Days

I was taught and still believe that I AM could come at any moment with a new Name.
Reason: Jesus said He would cut short the term for the sake of the elect.

MEANWHILE - back at the ranch as it were ..................................

Watch and Wait
