Sabbath 2/17/18 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater, FL Pastor John sermon “Signs of Spiritual Life” I John 2:24-25
We have all been the doctor where the nurse puts us on a scale first. We dread the weighing in. Then she puts a thermometer under your tongue and checks your pulse. Then she takes your blood pressure. All of these things are part of the diagnostics they do before you tell them what is wrong with you. There is another kind of health we can check for. We need to check our own spiritual lives. It is not all about how we feel. None of us know what the day will bring to us.
We all should do a health Faith check. We have a Faith based on the Bible, the scriptures, the Word of God. We have Faith and we have a relationship with Jesus and God. It’s not what we know, but who we know! Jesus said to the Pharisees that they search the scriptures but could not recognize Jesus as the Son of God. The Bible contains the recipe for Life and this Life is only in Jesus Christ. We need to check on our Faith.
We need to check on our Confidence in Jesus Christ. The confidence inside Christians, purifies them. In Jesus there is no sin. Sin was taken away by Jesus. Sin is the issue. Christ is our model to follow. We should live as Jesus did and follow in His steps. We are children of God and when He appears, we will be like Him. Others should see Jesus in us as we be a model of Him.
We should have a Loyalty to Christ Jesus. We should respond to the love of God and Jesus. When we do this, we won’t have as many conflicts. We love Jesus because He first loved us. We need to read the Word of God and let it be our standard. We should walk as Jesus did and have a loving relationship with the people of God. We are to love one another as Christ loves us.
Where we started with the Lord is much less important than where we are in the Lord today. Each year should cause us to realize our Faith is growing from year to year. We realize the things we know in God this year is more than what it was last year. We should strongly represent the Faith of Jesus Christ. The more we do this, the more the devil will bother us. Satan only bothers those who are not followers of him. Our confidence and trusting in God will overcome the devil every time. We have Victory thru Jesus and will move onto higher ground in the Lord.
