What will be the offical language of heaven?

Think about this unusual happening. As essential as language apparently is to God's being, have you considered that He used the confusion of language to put an end to the rebellion against His command to "fill the earth" at Babel according to the story in Genesis 11:1-9. It was at this point in time that multiple languages were introduced to the world. Everyone spoke the same language.

Erich Sauer in his book Dawn of World Redemption wrote.........
""The original language in which Adam in paradise had named all the animals was, as it were, a great mirror in which the whole of nature was accurately reflected. But now God shattered this mirror, and each people retained only a fragment of it, […] and now each people sees only a piece of the whole, but never the whole completely."

After thinking about this for awhile I came to the conclusion that Faith, must be the Official Language of the Kingdom of Heaven. Every country, and nation has a national language that is used to communicate with each other. The Kingdom of Heaven also has a official national language, and that language is “faith”. Every citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven must learn it and speak faith as it is a requirement.

Then I thought.........Is FAITH going to be required "after" we get to heaven.??????

Faith is believing what we can not see and if we have realized heaven, does faith then end.

Now that should give you all something to think about.

That is a good question, i believe when someone receives the holy spirit they speak in tongues. The bible says the tongues of The Spirit are the language of the angels. We will be constantly speaking in tongues in that we will speak that language. This is speculation, the bible says that all things will become as new. So maybe it will be a completely new language. I understand that we will all be completely filled with the Holy Spirit, as we live our lives on the new earth. I cannot see why God would not do that.

I would love to speak with you on what you just posted. However the rules here do not allow me to do that.

You are more than welcome to do a PM to me and I will be glad to respond to your comment.

I think that what I can say is to ask you a very simple question.

By saying that when "someone receives the Holy Spirit they speak in tongues", you are then actually saying that people who do NOT speak in tongues are not saved. Now think about that for a moment and do some Bible study before responding.

IF we can keep this conversation civil, we might be able to continue.

Now, allow me to say to you that the Bible tells us that we are told that every believer in Christ receives the Holy Spirit at the moment of accepting Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:9..........
"Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him."

1 Corth. 12:13..........
"For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit."

Ephesians 1:13-14.......
"In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory."

So we see Biblically that the believer is filled with the Holy Spirit at the moment he is saved.

But here there is the problem with what you have been told. Not every believer spoke in tongues when Paul wrote his instructions, neither do we today.

1 Corinthians 12:29-31........
"Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way."

So what is it to be learned. The facts are that everyone who is saved is baptized spiritually in the Holy Spirit, BUT every believer does not speak in tongues.

So by your post you are saying that all those who do not speak in tongues are not saved. THINK that through for a moment.

If our mods cancel this conversation I for one understand completely.

Interesting topic.
Too bad we are still babes in Christ that certain topic are off limits...

It is not that my friend. I would like to discuss this topic but I do understand why the site does not allow it. It always leads to confrontations and arguments.

My experience over the years is that a great number of people simply can not discuss some things without becoming angry, and confrontational.

Speaking in tongues is one of those topics.

Hello Major;

I read your thread and thank you for the manner you're using, keeping in the mind the forum rules. I'm addressing this with the staff whether we can continue this discussion.

This forum rule was enforced years ago because many Christians who have not been properly discipled in the church regarding the Spiritual tongues. As a result aggressive disagreements arose within the membership here.

Thank you, brother.

Hello, 2404;

Yes, God bless His babes in Christ. Its amazing how many new believers have been used by Him to minister to seasoned believers.

However, even in discipleship there is still a discipline to sustain peace in our fellowship and defuse any possible confrontation based on our experience at Christian Forum Site, thus the forum rules.

Please join us in prayer and will get back to everyone.

Thank you.

What ever you choose to do is OK with me. I have seen the arguments that can take place over certain topics between Christians and it is sad to see that happen.

Then there is the other side which says that those who are unlearned need to be taught. Somewhere between those 2 thoughts should lie an answer.

IMHO, it seems that some people are unable to learn something new after they have been taught something different all of their lives. So instead of listening and learning they resort to intimidation and anger. It is what we do and I think every one will agree to that.

It has been correct said that we like what we know even if what we know is wrong. Now it may just be that those people can not tolerate being told that what they know is wrong.

Example........ “No, we don’t need to stop at the store; there’s plenty of milk left for breakfast."
The question is how do we respond when it turns out we were wrong—when there wasn’t enough milk left for coffee, or cereal??????

Some of us admit we were wrong and say, “Oops, you were right. We should have gotten more milk.” That is the easy right thing to do.

But some people refuse to admit they’re wrong, even in the face of overwhelming evidence.......an empty milk carton.

But what about when a person pushes back against the facts, when they simply cannot admit they were wrong in any circumstance? What in their psychological makeup makes it impossible for them to admit they were wrong, even when it is obvious they were? And why does this happen so repetitively — why do they never admit they were wrong?

Having spent some time on this situation over the years, it seems to me that the answer is related to their ego, their very sense-of-self. Some people have such a fragile ego, such brittle self-esteem, such a weak "psychological constitution," that admitting they made a mistake or that they were wrong is fundamentally too threatening for their egos to tolerate. Therefore they MUST fall back on being a bully or anger/intimidation hoping that the person debating them will just give up the argument so that they can say......."SEE I WON"!!!

Accepting they were wrong, absorbing that reality, would be so psychologically shattering, their defense mechanisms do something remarkable to avoid doing so — they literally distort their perception of reality to make it (reality) less threatening. Their defense mechanisms protect their fragile ego by changing the very facts in their mind, so they are no longer wrong or culpable.

Now, I do not have a dog in this hunt and what I just said it simply the cause of some confrontations. Personally I do not care one way or the other.
I am more than willing to discuss the tongues topic in a Christian civil manner as I would any other topic, and I am just as happy if you guys do not want to broach it.

My wife hates it when I say this......... But I am easy.

But seriously, Major...
I’m not sure if Faith is something that never stops growing,
Will there always be something to aim for in heaven?
Hmmm I guess we’ll have to wait and see

That is why I asked the question.

Lord knows I do not know. I was just thinking out loud. It seems to me that the Bible says that when we get to heaven we will have the mind of Christ.

That being the case and we are in heaven, what purpose would faith in God have since the reality of our faith is standing in front of us????

Something to think about!!!

I for one am in support of whatever you guys say. The mods here do an impossible job and I am with them.

If I say anything out of line..........TELL ME!

it seems to me that the answer is related to their ego

In my personal opinion:
If we find ourselves being the person who has difficulty admitting when we are wrong- we should take the time to recognize that what we have actually done is fallen into a trap / snare. (Score 1 for the enemy!)

Like you said, it's an ego thing... aka pride.
(maybe a defensive reaction due to being insecure or lacking confidence/knowledge.)

Whatever the case may be, it should be a red flag to us, to take it to God in prayer, and stay in our Bibles, and LISTEN for the guidance and direction we need. We just might learn some stuff, and grow a bit more!

I agree completely.

Is ok to post cos I'm not being contentious at all! I think all tongues are created by God and the fact that us humans can speak (and read and write) in different languages makes us special and different from animals who have their own languages but don't usually cross over into humans (some gorillas and parrots as exceptions).

At first I thought won't it be Hebrew as the original tongue for the chosen people, maybe we will all become fluent in Hebrew in the resurrection.
But then I thought maybe cos there's silence in heaven for an hour, we won't need spoken words, as our thoughts will be immediately known kind of telepathically and no chance of any miscommunication.

Or it could be we will all be able to speak in whatever tongue God gives us or delightfully discover more language abilities in heaven. It could be every word will have a place or maybe even an angelic language that can encompass all the varieties known on earth, each with its unique variation, so we will become polyglots.

I like the idea of a musical language, where everything we say would rhyme.

It does say in Corinthians that 'tongues will cease' when we see God face to face. But I just think it means we'll just be speechless when we see God. Not that we won't be able to talk and be rendered mute forever! But that He'll be so awesome, words won't be necessary, we'll just be gasping in awe.

Agreed.

However, it is pride it seems to me that will not allow some people to learn from other people.

Personally, I have no idea what the language of heaven will be. In fact, I do not care even one little bit. What I do care about is BEING THERE!!!!!

As for the speaking in tongues, I can post the teaching that I believe to be Biblical but I will not argue that with anyone. YOU will have to work out what you believe with the Word of God and NOT ME.

In the Bible, the word "Tongues" is actually DIALECTUS in the Greek from which we get the word Dialect or better said Languages.

1 Corth 13:8-10.........
"Charity (love) never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away."

So then the problem is obvious. The SIGN Gifts are going to come to and end. That is what the Scriptures actually say. Now, When do those things end???? In other words, at some point after Paul wrote 1 Corinthians, the gift of tongues would no longer be in use.

What/Who is the "Perfect" that will being and end to prophecies, tongues and knowledge????

"Perfect" as it is written in the original means "COMPLETENESS".

What is the definition of "Sign Gifts". They were gifts given by the Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples in Mark 16 as He spoke to the ELEVEN Apostles.
THEY were given special things that they could do so as to validate the coming of the Written Word of God as the truth of God. THEY could do everything that Jesus did even raise the dead.

One view, which I believe to be the correct one is called the “Cessationist” view, and it is that the sign gifts were only in operation during the apostolic era given to the ELEVEN Apostles to give special revelation until the completion of the New Testament. Before early Christians had the whole New Testament, they had to rely on words of knowledge, prophecy, and tongues )Languages) to give them the full revelation of God. Once the church had possession of the full New Testament (the completeness), these gifts faded away as unnecessary. Faith, hope, and love continue to be in operation.

God bless you all as you digest those comments.

Hello Major;

When you mentioned Faith being the official language of the Kingdom, I agree, and there is more I would like to share. There are 3 areas of Faith,
"The Before"
the assurance of things hoped for - reference Hebrews 1, "The During" being still and knowing who God is - reference Psalms 46:10 and the "The After" Christ is coming soon - reference Revelation 22:12-13.

The language and Scriptural tongues that has been discussed equates to humanity while on this earth. Heaven will not have an official human language but a communication that questions, answers and sings equating to the Holy Spirit.

For example, when I join you all in Heaven, I would love to meet George Washington and ask him questions in plain English. But while imagining he and I are having a discussion about America's Revolution and after receiving the answers to my questions, "Wow, Mr. President, is that what really happened" I don't believe thats going to happen in an English audible, but will receive my answer equating to the Holy Spirit.

Keeping in mind John was given the Word in Hebrew while receiving the Prophecy in Revelation but this was being received while John was still on earth.

Of course, God can use any form of communication in Heaven. But can anyone support this in Scripture?

God bless
us all and our families.

You maybe completely correct and I would not argue that in any way whatsoever.

1 Corinthians 13:1 ..........
" If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal."

At 1st glance we would read that and say........see, angels live in heaven and speak a language so there must be a heavenly language".

But as is the case in a lot of examples, if we dig into that verse I think we can say that what Paul was saying is that “tongues of angels” is probably best understood as having the ability to speak with “divine eloquence.”

As one well-known Bible scholar put it, “Paul is simply saying that, were he to have the ability to speak with the skill and eloquence of the greatest men,
when compared with angelic eloquence, he would only become a noisy gong . . .”!

hhmm.... I would have to say love. In fact, you even stated it in the scripture above :)

1 Corinthians 13:1 ..........
" If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal."

And, we can't forget John 3:16. The entire Bible, (and Jesus), demonstrates the love of God.

Some guy wrote something about the 5 love languages but as I understand it a lot of Quakers worship in silence and still feel God's presence and love.

I find a lot of churches way to noisy (all the singing, all the sermonising, all the looong prayers in many tongues) which is why it's nice to go there amongst friends at those meeting houses and just sit in silence.
