4/4/2020 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith “God So Loved the World” John 3:16

John 3:16 is a message from God that He loves us. Even when we are in terrible times, feel neglected, sick and shut in---God still loves us. The Bible teaches us about Salvation and how God searches for us to love us and embrace us as His own. God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to save us. God loves everybody and not just the good looking people or just the rich people or just the smart people. God loves the world and this means everybody that has been damaged by sin. God loves everyone! Those that are short or tall, healthy or disabled. God loves us all! Every person who is deformed by sin, God wishes them to be His children. That’s why He sent Jesus to die for everybody’s sin.

God created the world and did not just walk away and leave us in our mess. He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins because God loves us. Jesus died on the cross because He himself loves us. God gave His only begotten son so that whosoever believes in Him shall be saved. All other religions teach that our problem can be fixed by doing good things-good deeds, good karma. They think that they can overcome their bad deeds by using the good deeds to balance out things. The message in John 3:16 is that God loves us and sent Jesus to save us because we cannot do enough good deeds to balance out our bad deeds and sins.

God has a better way. He removes the sin burden from our lives by sending Jesus to take on the sins of the world and to die for the punishment for our sins. God was in Jesus and Jesus was in God when Jesus was on the cross dying for our sins. This shows us how great the love is that God has for us. We cannot purchase the gift of life from God. We can only accept the gift of love from God in His Son Jesus Christ.

AMEN
