Anybody Out There!?

There are 294 verses with the word "wilderness". What is a wilderness, besides a lonesome desolate wasteland? Oh, pretty much nothing. That is the definition of it and the context of it in the Bible. What a lonely and despairing place we can be when we are taken to the wilderness.

Who all went to the wilderness in their quest for righteousness? Glad you asked. The most notable of these are:

  1. John the Baptist - won by being true to the message until he was beheaded.
  2. Elijah - remained true to God until Jezebel was killed and eaten by dogs.
  3. Moses - Poor guy spent more time in the desert than anywhere else. But he won.
  4. Abraham - Roamed looking for home with the name which means "Father of Many" and he only two sons. But he won and God fulfilled His vow.
  5. Jesus - Deprived in the flesh but quoted Scripture through the battle and of course won.
They all went through tremendous battles against the flesh and the carnal world to abide in their righteousness. If you are going through the wilderness stay true to the Message of God, pray your way toward the goal, sing and quote lots of Scripture to disengage the enemy. You will win this because God's people doing God's work never lose.
