Be As God verses Be As gods

I asked this question in another thread, but because it's buried in another thread, I thought it worthwhile to actually discuss in its own thread:

Looking at the verse in question -

Genesis 3:22 Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever"--

Like unto which One of the Three in the Godhead had man become? If man was like unto only One, then what is that likeness? God is God because of His triune nature, so individually, what are Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Is just One of the Three - God, or only a part of God? I don't see that the Godhead as being divisible, which reinforces the triune nature of the fullness of the Godhead.

This is something I had never delved into nor even noticed, but the words betray something deeper that I have yet to explore as to if it's something we can grasp at all in our current state of existence.

Thoughts?

Hmmmm. My 1st thought is that this is a loaded question.

Some Bible scholars see this as a reference to the Trinity: and I would not argue point because God the Father is speaking to the Holy Spirit and to Christ.

Logic suggests, and Scripture confirms, and I for ONE believe that all three aspects of the Trinity were present from before the foundation of the world.

But that does not answer your question! Me, being a CHRISTOLOGIST would say that it is Christ who is in view as the ONE!

I say that based on Scriptural evidence that says Christ the Son is the agent of the Creation process in Colossians 1:16.......
"For by him ( Christ-vs 13-15) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:".

Then it was Jesus the Christ who came looking for man when man sinned in Genesis 3:9....
"Adam, where are you"?

It was Jesus the Christ who killed and shed the blood of the 1st animal to cover mans sin in Genesis 3:8........
"And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden."

It was Jesus the Christ who died to pay for mans sin in 1 Peter 2:24......
"and He Himself (Christ) bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed."

It is Jesus the Christ who will judge all men in seen in John 5:22.............
"For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son".

PRECISELY! Dead on! "One of us" as a reference to the Son is the only avenue of thought that meshes with the text in what it says since we are in...Christ. I don't take it as being ethereal or something that can be interpreted subjectively. I realize commentators say other things, and if all commentators agreed with one another on everything, then perhaps their thoughts would be worth something.

Thanks, Major.

All three are equal. The phrase "One of US" is only saying that Adam had gained knowledge of good and evil (which they all had) that he did not previously have.

I don't think it was a matter of only one of them having that knowledge, but that the knowledge man gained had, as the text clearly states, BECOME as One of the three. Now, the depths of what that means...we may never know in this life.

Does that make sense?

Yes sir. A lot of commentators say a lot of things and some do it just to be controversial so that they can sell a book.

Now If you want to be correct..................agree with me!;););););)

Now before someone tries to be funny and make that mean something I did not mean for it to say...I WAS JUST KIDDIN!!!!!
