RUTH:
This fine woman was a Moabitess that married into the Jewish faith. Both she and her mother-in-law were widowed. Her mother-in-law told her to return to her people, but, Ruth refused and stated that the Israelites were her people now and that their God was her God as well. Her example of faithfulness and persistence and trust in God has been an inspiration to all. She is 1 of only 5 women mentioned in the lineage of Jesus and is the great grandmother to king David.
Ruth 1:16-17 (KJV)
16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
