Book of Mormon play.

I dont know much about this play. Saw it advertised on tv and read some about it. Seems it makes fun of mormons. While I dont have a dog in this fight, I have to wonder what it might lead to. Catholics and or Protestants made fun of? This play may get the toe in the door.

The Book of Mormon is a musical comedy with music, lyrics, and book by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone. First staged in 2011, the play is a satirical examination of the beliefs and practices of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wikipedia

I agree and I think it’s already happened here and there.

Personally I find that no matter my personal feelings concerning any one denominations scriptures or dogma, this type of “entertainment” creates disharmony and adds fuel to the fires of Chaos.

We know who benefits from chaos, and it’s not our Lord.

I look at religions and cults a little differently. It is my opinion that those entities should be exposed as what they are.

“I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.” - Joseph Smith, History of the Church, 4:461

This is the mindset of Mormon missionaries have been taught. Where they are coming from is that the Bible is corrupted; they only believe the Bible “...to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly.” (Articles of Faith #8).

The Mormon faith teaches and believes that the Lord Jesus Christ and Satan are brothers. That kind of heresy needs to be exposed.

The "real" Christian faith can and has endured and grown under 2000 years of scrutiny because it is the real deal!

You are taking it for granted that the athiest left differentiates mormon, protestant, catholic etc. They cant believe in anything greater than themselves no matter the belief system.

That may be true and yet it may not be. Atheists actually study religion and are experts in Christianity so as to be able to use that as a weapon against believers. Believe me when I say that brother. My church was 2 miles from a University and I spent many, many hours talking with and witnessing to atheists from the university. I will give them credit in that they invited me a couple of times to special conferences for debates and it was always......"interesting".

For sure a lot of church going people do not know the basics of the Mormon cult. Many, and I mean many Christians simply believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is in fact a "Christian" church.

It is only when they are told and shown what they believe that they say.........WOW, I never knew that!

That is in my opinion why such operations must be exposed. It seems to me that toooo many of us are afraid to be labeled as eveil or harsh because we stand up for what God said. Jesus spoke up, Stephen spoke up, Paul spoke, Erik Bonhoeffer spoke up, so why are we quiet? We must not be afraid to rebuke others if what we stand up for is righteous.
