Brothers and sisters of Jesus

Any thoughts on this?

I believe it's undisputed that Our Lord Jesus had several brothers and sisters but were they biological siblings?

I mentioned this on my Sunday School lesson yesterday and I believe I said nothing wrong. The subject was family and I just told the kids that Jesus had several brothers and sisters, which is mentioned in the New Testament. (Mark 6:3, Matthew 13:55-56)

Flavio - Scripture tells us that Joseph and Mary married had children together after Jesus was born.

Matthew 1:18-25 (NLT*) provides details on the engagement and eventual marriage of Joseph and Mary -

18 This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. 20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:

23 “Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,
which means ‘God is with us.’”

24 When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. 25 But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus."

Please review Matthew 13:55-56 (NLT) for some information on this "55 Then they scoffed, “He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers—James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. 56 All his sisters live right here among us... "

Also, please read Matthew 12:46 (NLT) "46 As Jesus was speaking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him."

Also review John 2:11-12 (NLT) " 11 This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

12 After the wedding he went to Capernaum for a few days with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples.
"

*(The New Living Translation (NLT) has the same accurate wording as the KJV, but written in modern English for clarity.)

That is beyond all dispute save with those who believe Mary died a virgin.

But here is a thought .
When Jesus was teaching in a house he was told that his mother and kin were outside seeking to talk with him.
He then denied his mother and bretheren of the flesh and said in effect that his true mother and bretheren were they "that did the will of God"

James, the Lord's brother, took an important position in Jerusalem in the early church.
This is not James the younger nor James son of Zebedee.
