Can AI and Meta AI Contrast Our Christian Belief?

Hello;

I remember when television would influence young, middle and senior age people's thinking in society.

Rock music would be the devil's music.

Computers would negatively influence our thinking, thoughts and how we process information.

In 2024 with more information and the development of AI or Meta AI, how will it impact the future of the world?

Who finds favor of it?

How do we respond to this new technology or all technologies, and what should be the Christian perspective and Scriptures that we can refer to?

I don't feel there is a right or wrong answer but would love to hear your thoughts.

God bless everyone.

Bob

The technology revolution more so the internet has given us the advantage of evaluating doctrinally and historically any part of the Bible we choose to study at a moment’s notice. Before that it was a life time endeavour searching out libraries and waiting for books and documentation to arrive from the many publishers and libraries of the world. Of course once you open Pandora’s box there be a vast array of temptations and alternative enlightenment that does beset many from the truth. My thoughts as our experiment with enlightenment continues through the ages from the garden of paradise of so long ago IMG_1858.jpeg

I am absolutely opposed to AI.... but who needs AI when you live in Canada and are NATURALLY the laughing stock of the entire world. HA.

We have a prime minister who refuses to step down for the greater good. You can't make this stuff up. HAHA.

It's bad enough that I don't know if I am watching something if it's TRUE or NOT... AI is only going to make that worse.

But then again... I am a black and white sheep. HA

Proceed with caution.
I notice that a lot of AI, in regards to biblical q&a is an amalgamation of popular beliefs some of which sound good but if youre not familair with and understanding of scripture it can be dangerous. Depending on how you word a question, it can spit out a Mormon belief or a claim from the JW.

In regards to everyday life, it's best to go to a known and reputable source for information.

The anti-christ, of course, is a spirit not some tool. Comfort and convenience, supported by technology, sets an atmosphere in which man tends to backside. Scripture says our trials and troubles are more precious than gold. I believe if we can stay in the Word the Word will keep us. I think we can be thankful for technology but as said "as long as it doesn't rule us'. I appreciate more comfortable homes and transportation, i don't think anyone would want to go back. Also we know that the natural types the spiritual so as we move forward in natural living there has to be a spiritual side to match. The natural man will follow the worldly course, the spiritual man will, by God's leading, rise to meet the challenge. The bar gets raised as things move along for our expected end is not met or developed, and never has been, by current conditions.

I've noticed that I use AI whether I like it or not every time I do a Google search on my phone. The first result of every search is always provided by AI. I don’t like AI because it can be misused so easily to generate misinformation. However, I think there can be some benefit in using it for research.

BTW: UNESCO estimates that every year 2.2 million new books are published, and that doesn't include the more than 1.7 million self-published titles.

All the rapid changes in our fields of knowledge brings to mind the final comments of Daniel:

Daniel 12:4 NASB1995
[4] But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.”

Good morning, everyone;

These are good posts and I wanted to add a couple of thoughts.

I won't single out the United States but the whole world in regards to technology has/had overlooked a major problem.

In the 19th and 20th centuries technology was pushed onto the markets like fast food. Beta testing had limited time management before it's product was launched to businesses and personal consumers.

The radio, television, computer (especially computers) and the internet were pushed ahead of serious beta testing and this is why technical support was created (and swamped) trying to provide solutions to technical devices that broke down.

Serious radio and television repair shops had to troubleshoot (at the time) analog technology that resulted in it's lack of reception or video signal connection to an antenna.

Later we know how backed up computer shops were with diagnostics and configurations because product upgrades were way ahead of the repair shops trying to keep up.

Think about it. What is the first reaction to a device that breaks down in the business, or personal home use? "The business cannot function" or, "how are we going to fill our time since the video audio isn't working?"

Here's a broad comparison. In Exodus chapters 25 - 31, and 35 - 40 God delegates to Moses to build the first tabernacle including all the details instructed to His servant. It wasn't built ahead of God's plan but in His perfect time. This part of Exodus is considered very dry reading but the end result was a perfect construction with God's message behind it. Nobody had to go back and tweek the pillars or repair the court on the west or east side.

I know of households that have "entertainment devices" in every room but the Bible may be tucked away in a drawer whenever it's needed. Sadly, this is the norm, especially with little children.

My concern about AI, there is already too much hype in social media, the world wide public, is being launched too quickly, more testing needs to be done and there's less of God's input.

Why launch a new technology into the market that ultimately cannot replace human intelligence, emotional feeling and bonding that was intended and created by God?

My other thought is technology has already shown a lack of human interaction with each other. "It's nice not having to deal with different personalities, disagreements and even our worship with God." Instead, we can just ask technology and receive an instant answer with a grain of salt.

Moderation with technology is good when managed right, but the latter can be more favorable.

Anything and everything can be used to exult God or deny Him- the decision is up to the individual's free will.

Several areas of interest, such as rock music, have reinforced that point. We could say it was freedom of expression which led to that which can be interpreted as good or bad. For example, when the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" album was released, it drew my interest more to the gospels. However, the free expression of rock music could be one reason promiscuous sex became more acceptable to some, which led to other problems, like more cases of STDs.

So many good posts in this thread with superb perspectives in which I could comment on, but will allow my short post to be it for now.

Hello Davey D0;

In 1970 I use to study in the evening at the library (yeah, right! lol! It was an excuse to get out of the house) and came across a magazine with an article about the Jesus Movement. I knew about the hippy movement but in the Jesus Movement the young people still looked like hippies but seeing them in the photos, praying and getting baptized intrigued me.

After that I first heard Jesus Christ Superstar followed later with Godspell. I really enjoyed the music from both and was also hearing bits and pieces of the Gospel. When both productions were fairly new they were met with high criticism by the media, religious groups and parents.

This early form of Christian music would go from folk to keyboards, horns and orchestra beside drums, bass and electric guitars and expandd musically for the next 4 decades.

I didn't pay much attention then and had a rebellious approach to the media, Churches or parents views. But today I can relate to the constructive reviews in other areas of new development.
