Thanks Bob (and Prim,) for your encouragement. Look forward to any feed back you may have.Hello Marilyn;
You provide nice outlines of these letters to the four Churches. This will help the disciple distinguish the books with better understanding.
I'll be back with more to share.
God bless you, Marilyn, and thank you.
Bob
Hi Bob,Good morning, Marilyn;
I'd like to add some basic side notes to your outline from my study. These cities were important to Paul in his letters.
Ephesus was in Greece but is now Turkey. Paul's letter was not to scold the Ephesians (a sophisticated society) but to uplift and encouraged them through his letter sent by his messenger Tychicus.
Philippi was in Greece close to Macedonia. This was a good mission for Paul. He was pleased because the Philippians grasped the Gospel and in my interpretation of Paul's mission the Philippians were a good role model for Christ's Church.
Colossae was in Asia Minor but is now in modern Turkey. The Colossians' new faith in Christ was still mixed with other philosophies and paganism. Paul's letter confronted these issues and affirms the teachings of Christ.
Thessalonica was and is in Greece today. They were a young Church and were confused about Christ's second coming. Paul established the Church and they were grasping the Gospel. This pleased Paul as he encouraged these young Christians.
The world was troubled back then just as it faces it's challenges today. But I feel we have messengers like Paul who are continuing to spread the Gospel but with an advantage through better access in travel, electronics, the Bible and text books.
God bless you, Marilyn.
