Thank you for this wonderful video.
I will come back to it many times.
My problem Iis patience. Under great stress I am having to bite my tongue. I have prayed about it and The Holy Spirit is helping me. Sometimes I fail and hate myself.

gossiping is rife at my place of work.
as is causing strife and dissentions.
I learning to say no.

being thankful for being in these situations is hard. I know its practice for me and counting it all joy is difficult. but I am trusting Him to guide me with this situation.

nice video. thank you

Hello thebibleworks;

Thank you for posting Christian behavior in the Bible. What does it really say?

In the video the narrator was sharing, is it the hypocrisy of Christians and their behaviour? Is this why unbelievers are turned away from Christian's behavior?

I agree with the video, and will add that unbelievers do see the behavior of Christian's behavior and are turned away. Yes, it is sad when Christians who follow Christ are hypocritical in their behavior. But the unbelievers don't realize that they too are being judgmental to God's sanctified people.

Truth is, Christians do fall short of exposing themselves to unbelievers, difference is, a disciplined Christian catches themself and go into prayer confessing and asking for forgiveness, and seek forgiveness of others. Most unbelievers don't have this spiritual conscious yet, and wouldn't think of repenting for their behavior.

This is not by any means a consolation of our behavior and we should not apologize for what God says and commands of us. This is why we as believers must always be reminded for life, because on our own reminders we may mature into seasoned Christians, but we just cannot do it on our own. We need Jesus.

God bless you, thebibleworks, and your whole family.

I know of several people who could benefit from seeing this video.
I guess I'm lucky, or should I say blessed, because I was taught that sins are not okay since I was a child. Not that I was able to live my whole life following that principle, but I always knew it was what God expects of us.

I know, from another Christian message board, that there are Christians out there that think what we do means nothing to God. I honestly don't know where they get this from. I've always known that God is deeply concerned with our behavior. I even think Jesus said, in many places, that we are going to be held accountable for everything we do and say during our lives. I do remember 1 verse where Jesus said, man will have to answer for every idle word he ever spoke. That is scary.
So where these so-called Christians get the idea that we can sin all we want, and it won't matter, remains a mystery to me. But apparently this false teaching is more popular than I ever thought it is, other wise why make a video like this. Just because Jesus died for sins is no reason to think we can sin all we want. We Christians are supposed to be reading our Bibles, and if you do, you'll find many verses that say how we behave now will directly effect what happens to us after we leave Earth.

I'm glad this video was made, I thought it was very good.

Well said, John T.;

It definitely gives us/me more to think about. Praise His glory revealed!

God bless you, brother, and your family.

I knew an unbeliever at work, who showed some interest in the things of the Lord. One day, he had 'caught me saying something' and so he smugly said, "I thought you were a Christian" to which I truthfully responded, "That's why I need a Savior".. He told me later it gave him something to think about.

Bobinfaith, I met this guy on the other board, because I started a thread about sins we are born into, and how I found it harder to give those up, as opposed to sins I chose to get involved with. Several people on that other board, found it offensive that I was causing them to think about their sins. Although from my pov I was doing them a favor, I was talking about my struggle with those sins, not anyone else. Apparently, this guy was raised to believe all his past, present, and future sins were forgiven 2000 yrs ago and there's no reason he should have to think about them, much less to struggle to give them up. I don't agree with this, and when you run into an unbeliever how can you even hope to convert him if you aren't providing a good example of what being a Christian means. If we are going to live the same way as the people of the world live then what good are we. Jesus said we have to be different and so did all the Apostles. I admit that I don't know exactly where these verses are, but I know they are in the Bible. I do remember that in Matthew ch. 5 Jesus made what He was saying very personal so that whoever heard Him should know He was saying we have to live by the principles He was talking about. Although IMO the whole Bible is saying we have to live by what God says. It's true that to do this, first you have to believe what God says, but it doesn't end there. Believing is only step 1.
As I said, I was blessed because I was taught, as a child, we are to avoid sins as much as possible. It's not about getting forgiven, it's about being pleasing to God. To be pleasing to God we have to be as righteous as we possibly can. It's sad that some of us grew up in churches that teach the opposite of this.

So again I'll say that this was a great video.

Hello John. T.;

After reading your post, would you agree that Christians will become offensive or defensive, yet give no benefit of the doubt when we do study the Word and give our testimony in alignment with Scripture? Its as if they think we are fabricating God's Word and conveniently sharing our witness.

From this topic I agree that it's so important to be honest to the unbeliever but when we expose our weaknesses instead of hiding it with our bruised ego / pride, how do we handle it?

Example,
my wife and I prayed before going out in public to look for a furniture piece at a major store. I got upset at something that happened to us in the store, and instead of approaching it as a man of God, I reacted with anger and heated words. It only lasted a moment, but the floor associate who was with another trainee saw my disposition yet he apologized to me. I was wrong and knew I could have handled it better.

It lingered with me for a couple of days and took away my joy (good things are happening right now in my personal life.) After praying I shared with my wife that we're going back to the store to do our business which made her happy, but more important, I want to meet with the sales rep and his trainee and apologize. I don't know if they are saved and can make all the excuses not to, but to me it's the right thing to do.

It won't be easy because of my inner bruised ego/pride but I know my God is bigger and will guide me through it.

God bless you, John, and your family.

The truth is that our lives as Christians are living testimonies. For many years I was a store manger for a large drug chain. I did not aloow cursing and dirty jokes from associates. Even way back in the 70's, I refused to allow an employee to smoke in the store. When I was asked WHY......
I explained that I was a Christian and Christ in me did not allow that kind of behaviour.

Now......I must tell you that by doing that I had a reputation as an old "fuddy-duddy" which I actually relished in! I can not begin to tell you the parents of teenagers who wanted their kids to work for me. I never had a shortage of workers!!!!

Way too may so-called Christians believe that they can drink beer and look at Playboy magazines on Saturday and go to church on Sunday and everything is alright with God.

This is so very true. It's also unfortunate because I don't think these guys ever realized God sees everything we do. You can fool other people, but we aren't tricking God and its His opinion that matters.
I remember a long time ago when I was in my 20's and first becoming a Christian. Back then I used to read the Bible on the way to work. That morning I had read where Jesus said The Father sees and knows everything we do. That really troubled me. For many years that stewed in me as if it was cooking. My point here is it took me most of my life to become as I am now. I realize younger believers are probably not like me. I wasn't always like me neither. I say the important thing is 1. Keep reading the Word, especially the wisdom books. Read them at least once every 1 to 3 yrs. We easily forget what they say. 2. Keep reminding yourself you have to grow in God. You're never a fully mature Christian, I'm still growing too.
I had a favorite preacher man who used to travel around, back when that was popular. I once heard him say he goes to many churches where people tell him, they are 20 yrs old in the Lord. But it soon becomes apparent to him most of them are not 20 yrs old in the Lord, they are 1 yr old 20 times. I really respected this man so I knew he knew what he was saying. I heard him say this in the 1990's. I determined to myself that day, not to become a person who's 1 yr old in the Lord 20 times. This isn't easy, brothers and sisters, but it is possible. I now know why Jesus made all those hard saying, such as we have to die to ourselves, or cut off our right hand if it leads us to sin. Jesus did not mean those statements literally. Please don't anyone harm yourself, and don't consider killing yourself, please.
And if you do still look at Playboy, just remind yourself that eventually you have to give it up. If you are successful in growing in the Lord, a day will come when you won't look at it. I don't even look at the annual edition of Sports Illustrated no more.
You will get there if you want to get there.

Ok, I finally watched this video. I found it a bit imbalanced. It presents a list of dos and don'ts, yet hardly touched on the true motive for our love of others.
To be a bit more balanced, I believe there should have been more emphasis on all that God has done for us in Christ. This is the pattern most Epistles take. ..(a couple of examples)

Hebrews 10:19-24 (NASB) Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,

2 Peter 1:3-8 (NASB) seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
