Comfort to the captives

“Comfort and keep comforting my people,” says your God.

Speak tenderly to the heart.... your time of service are ended, that your iniquity is pardoned (by the blood of Jesus).... Every valley shall be lifted and filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked and uneven shall be made straight and level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory (majesty and splendor) of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it. [Luke 3:5, 6.]

The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity], To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound]. [Isa. 61:1, 2.]

Jesus said to her, Did I not tell you and promise you that if you would believe and rely on Me, you would see the glory of God? So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

And the Lord said to Moses, I will do this thing also that you have asked, for you have found favor, loving-kindness, and mercy in My sight and I know you personally and by name. [Rev. 2:17.]

For God Who said, Let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts so as [to beam forth] the Light for the illumination of the knowledge of the majesty and glory of God [as it is manifest in the Person and is revealed] in the face of Jesus Christ (the Messiah). [Gen. 1:3.] However, we possess this precious treasure [the divine Light of the Gospel] in [frail, human] vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves.

But to each one is given the manifestation of the [Holy] Spirit [the evidence, the spiritual illumination of the Spirit] for good and profit. All these [gifts, achievements, abilities] are inspired and brought to pass by one and the same [Holy] Spirit, Who apportions to each person individually [exactly] as He chooses.

God has called us all to minister to those who are lost, hurting (physically and emotionally), and bound by the enemy. It is not always preaching to them, but kowing the anointed Word of God is key to establishing in our hearts what we believe, and then we have the faith to carry out His wishes (commands). For Jesus told us in John 14:12 that anyone who believes in Him, can do the things that He did. We are His mouthpieces and hands and eyes and ears.... we are His body and He is the head.

Comforting those whom need comforting can be a big thing like giving (sowing) them with your time or money. Or it can be a kind word of encouragement or an ear to hear about their day. Taking the spirit of compassion (which Jesus was) and allowing it to envelope them. It could be as simple as a hug at church, or telling them how pleased you are with what they are doing (cuz they are doing a good job).
Many people don't realize that comfort comes in many forms. And we have to know that as we have the very spirit of God and His love within us that is compelling us to bless others.

You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], He may give it to you.
