Daniel 2's four kingdom succession

We should all know the 4 kingdom succession in Daniel 2 because it comes right to the Roman period when 'a kingdom will be established that cannot be destroyed because it is God's everlasting kingdom.'

One of the subtle details of Daniel's interactions with the Chaldeans (ie the magi) is that a bond was created with them through which their lives were saved. He stuck out his neck and asked Nebachadnezzar to save their lives because they had other contributions to make. I don't know if he knew it then, but they were already working out astronomical projections that "said" that the king of the world would be born in Judea--by tracking certain stars/planets.

If you are not familiar forward and backward with Daniel 2, start by reading of course, but then work out the 4 kingdoms from Babylon forward.
