The Day of Pentecost was also called the Feast of Weeks in the Old Testament. A day that the firstfruits of the wheat harvest were gathered. Literally "Pentecost" means count fifty or 7 weeks and a day.
What does it mean to me, personally? This day commemorates the opportunity God gave for his Spirit to dwell in us and that we might be made new in mind and heart through that Holy Spirit.

To me Pentecost means as sandman said.....the birth of the Church.
IT also reminds me of the Lords Supper/Communion.
It also reminds me of the coming of the Holy Spirit to indwell believers.
