Discombobulated Prayer

Discombobulated Prayer

Sat down the garden, sun just got out of bed
Coffee and good intentions in hand.
This time I’m not going to pray the world tour!
Put the world to right
Pass opinion about what’s happening in church…
And that mrs T’s new hat, blocks the view
I’m not going to debate the bits of the sermon I didn’t like
Or the speed of the worship songs
When are they getting out of second gear?

They provided a prayer plan to follow each day
But my discombobulated thoughts keep getting in the way,
And now my coffee’s gone cold,
a sin in it’s self…
Got to go back to the house and microwave
Or shall I make a fresh cup?
reheated coffee is never the same
Just like rehashing old prayers
Going to the book of common prayer,
A prayer for every occasion
In this day and age

Thinks…

New day
Fresh coffee
Fresh prayers,
Doesn’t matter the order
Father already knows,
Doesn’t matter what you say rather who you’re saying it to!
He just wants some time out
Some ‘One on One’
With His precious daughter
With His precious son
Then while sat at Fathers feet siping that fresh cup
Talking to Abba, Father
King of Kings!
Start simple, as He taught us to say…
Our father who art in heaven…
Then take it from there!**

**The phrase “take it from there”
to assume control of and continue the course of action begun someone else
