Draw Near

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.”
Psalm 63:1

Last month, near my 75th birthday, I…asked,
“Lord, what would you have me to do for the rest of my days.
What should be my focus?” My answer came:
“Draw near to me, and I will draw near to you.”
That was all.

In Matthew 5:6:
Christ told us that we would be blessed if we hungered and thirsted after righteousness. Your quote for the day illustrates how David hungered for God the source of all righteousness.

In hunger we want to spend time in God's throne room (in prayer) and listening to God (through study) and meditating on his words so that we can apply them. Thirsting I always think of God's living water which also refers to God's Holy Spirit the source of our spiritual vitality. Without the Spirit we would be spiritually dead.

It also puts in me in mind of the scripture in

Matthew 22:37
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

To truly love God in this way we must truly hunger and thirst for his way.

God has been and will continue to, use you for His glory.
Keep up the work to which He has called you.
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."
James 5:16 (NIV)

I trust God. In my heart I know that he has a plan and is working his plan. God opens and closes doors of opportunity when he sees fit.

How are you doing by the way? Are you recovering alright?
