favorite Christmas story

what part of the Birth of Christ do you like?

naturally all of it is Good. my favorites would be simeon prophecy over the Baby JESUS

25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Mary and joseph marveled at that which was spoken. one would think they would have some knowledge all through the o.t the prophecy of a virgin birth the place he would be born his death . o.t prophets knew this and passed it on. simieon spoke some deep things .

of course the discussion was the birth actually dec 25 ? some say yes some say no the date it not the importance .the event is. . throw this question out.. how many would have handled it like joseph his wife with child before marriage and they had no sexual relationship math 1;25 Matthew records he thought of put her out privately verse 19 then verse 20 the angle of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. how would we have handled it yes he was a devout man

this will be the message in the Morning as it is unraveled by the Holy Spirit

dont every one rush in on this, lol

Interesting question, I'll have to think some about it. My wife also likes the Simeon story especially vs. 30 where he says...

"For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,"
yes a very important statement in reality the Bible story of the Birth of Christ of which part we like is like lays potato chips cant stop at just one .i like details the shepherds was the just shepherds or possible Levitical Shepheard's in charge of the sacrificial sheep :eek:

I think my favorite part are the prophecies pointing to the birth/coming of Christ such as...

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).

“The Lord says, ‘Bethlehem, you might not be an important town in the nation of Judah. But out of you will come a ruler over Israel for me. His family line goes back to the early years of your nation. It goes all the way back to days of long ago'” (Micah 5:2).

“May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores bring tribute to him. May the kings of Sheba and Seba present him gifts. May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him” (Psalm 72:10-11).

“A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping. Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are no more” (Jeremiah 31:15).

Jesus would be from the line of Abraham (Genesis 12:3), Isaac (Genesis 17:21, Genesis 26:4), Jacob (Genesis 28:14), Judah (Genesis 49:8–12), Jesse (Isaiah 11:1), and David (Isaiah 9:7, Jeremiah 23:5). (fulfilled in Matt 1 and Luke 1.

Was he born Dec 25th? Who cares, the fact that He fulfilled His promises (some given hundreds of years before their fulfillment) is enough to praise and worship Him.

exactly the o.t prophets knew there stuff i ran across a rticle born in a manger they said that meant born in a house i can only go by the book. not man
yup, I use to think that manger meant 'a stable' for many years until I picked up a dictionary and found out it was more like a feed trough! lol

The part I like and marvel at is that while laying in a manger with a dirty diaper.........Jesus Christ was in Controle of the Universe and kept the moon from crashing into the earth and made the rain fall!

I love every part of his birth, sacrifice, and resurrection as our holy savior. The cruelty pictured in my mind over his death, makes me cry though. Can you imagine being Christ, and knowing of your own suffering death?

What commercial Christmas story do I like the best? A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I used to be a big Garfield fan and they did have a Christmas special where Garfield went back to Jon's parents farm to spend Christmas with his family. Of course he overindulged and Jon's mum made ten kinds of potatoes.

The Charlie Brown Christmas story is memorable.
Home Alone and Mr Bean's Christmas are also favourites.
I remember a Mork and Mindy episdode where Mindy was explaining to Mork (an alien from another planet) what Christmas was all about. She mentioned 'a very special man called Jesus'. On Morks part he decided to give the gift of 'good thoughts'.

The Nativity movie starring Keisha Castle-Hughes as Mary was very well done I thought.
