Gen. 1: 4

God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.

1. God approves the light that He has created.
2. God affirms that this a good creation,
3. God separates light from darkness.
4. This verse displays the unique and divine power of God.
5. God acts twice in this verse, "God saw" and "God separated".
6. The context of Scripture here is God acting alone to create and separate by His own will resulting in literal light and dark.
7. God has not yet at this verse created sun, moon or stars to shine. The light He is using to separate from darkness is from Him alone.
8. Related verse is 2nd Cor. 4:6 For God who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness;" is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the
knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
9. Related verse, Eph. 5:8-"for you were formerly darkness but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light. Notice the words "formerly darkness"
which relate to the state of the created world before God sent His light into it. The Light of our hearts is Jesus who dispels the darkness which is sin. 10. Romans 13:12, another related verse, states the case spiritually regarding the gospel age, "The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore, let us
l aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light." This is prompting us to diligently serve the Lord while there is time. The metaphor of
darkness and light is obvious here.
11. Dark and light are used down through Scripture for symbolic truth in teaching us God's ways and will, although Gen. 1:4 is literal light and dark.

Good morning, Bible Verse Notes;

In my personal thoughts of Genesis 1:4, God was already displaying His Omnipotence "supreme power", Omniscience "all knowing and structured", Omnipresence "present on all four corners before the four corners were being created."

God merely speaks and the light was separated from the darkness.

God bless you, BVN and thank you for sharing.
