Give to Everyone Who Asks

What do you think?

Luke 6:30-33
Authorized (King James) Version

30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. 31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. 32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. 33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

I find it difficult to live with this seemingly simple maxim, for no other reason than I have limited resources.

That said, I have adopted a policy of genuinely considering all requests placed towards me. I'm not talking about bulk-mail or spam types, but sincere face to face requests.

For example, whenever a cashier asks if I would like to round up for this or that cause, I'm sort of obligated to say yes. Same with Salvation Army kettle bells and even, ahem, panhandlers.

Makes life interesting. ...
