God's Many Blessings (Blessing # 7 - Light)

God has supplied us with Light in several ways. In Genesis 1:3-5 (NLT) we are told: 3 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day" and the darkness "night." And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.

Without light, there would be no plants on earth, so God's plan was to establish Light before He created plants, as found in Genesis 1:11 and before he created humans in Genesis 1:26.

The earth was illuminated so humans could find their way around. Once humans realized that there was a higher power in God, humans also were given God's other 'Light' - His Word - which was His enlightenment of knowledge as provided by His Prophets and Scribes, telling human's how to live each day in accordance with God's wishes and His orders. As humans became more and more aware of godliness, God supplied His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to the world as The Light. We see this in Jesus' own words in John 8:12 (NLT), 12 Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Christ taught His Disciples how to teach His Gospel, referring to them as 'the light of the world' because of their travels and teachings, as found in Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT), 14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."

God has supplied us all with the Light of the sun, The Light of His Word, and the Light of salvation through Christ. If we take in God's many Lights, we will never be in the darkness.

May God Bless.
