Hidden Hook

It looked like another day in the dead,

another victim caught up in grandeur,

an easy prey lay hanging, languishing

supposedly for a noble cause.

But now something, strangling, constraining, draining,

Alas, I've gone too far with this Fisherman!

(I'm sorry, it's been a few years since I wrote this, and since then, I have completely forgotten it's meaning. Perhaps you can help? I promise not to pull this again.)

Hello Crossnote
I find your writings interesting.
Why do you write? Is it a sudden inspiration that then vanishes leaving only a shadow from which to ponder?
I believe you have a gift of sorts.
God bless.

Thanks 2404, often I will get inspired suddenly, but sadly too often, I will let it pass without writing. :(

For me it is descriptive of a failed earthly life being caught in the snares the world has to offer.
Crossnote - does that interpretation have merit?
Yes! One that has been caught off guard until he is hooked by the Fisherman, but sadly it is too late. Reminds me of...

Luke 12:16-21 (KJV) And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

But I am still befuddled at the last line...
Alas, I've gone too far with this Fisherman!

Maybe too far in the wrong direction?
