In Matthew 14 the disciples are in a small boat being tossed about by the waves. Before them appears an apparition and they cry out in fear. Jesus tells them 'fear not for it is I' (As a Christian our fears are unfounded for the footsteps of the righteous are ordered and all things work together to the good - so there is no such thing as a problem it is just another opportunity for growth) . Peter then says 'master if it is you bid me come to you' and Jesus said 'come'. So Peter steps out of the boat and walks on the water toward Jesus.
We are also called to walk on the water (water in scripture is often a reference to peoples and the milieu). If it were not so Jesus would not have bid him 'come', and Jesus Christ being the same yesterday, today and forever makes that statement an absolute.
Also we also know that if should we faulter He will be right there to raise us up again.
