How do we reopen and get back to normal.

John. T. Prayers sent your way. My surgeries are finally back on the books for June 3 (right one that has the most issues), and the 17th. Being they have had my money for over 90 days now, I am very thankful. I do get how quick cataracts progress. Best wishes to you for a speedy process.

My thoughts and prayers are for you. I have had that surgery and I am sure that you will do well and have no problems.

At this stage it looks like most people can get to scheduled hospital appointments now, after quarantine is over.
So don't worry.
I know its frustrating, but emergency services really have to prioritise things. If someones bleeding to death or in a car crash or in something that endangers the lives of heaps of people, that will take priority, obviously, an infectious deadly virus is also one of those.

I went to work yesterday...lockdown has been lifted in nz to level 2. I went out for a meal at a restaurant and we had to sign a register so if any of us fell ill, they would know where we had been.

At work we are keeping our distance, and are supposed to wear masks and gloves, but they are a pain to work with. I think washing hands and wiping surfaces is better than wearing gloves all the time. (plastic ones don't fit and are rubbish for the environment!) And I'm not that keen on the masks. However for the time being I don't think its too much of a hardship to be wear one to be safe. My friend made one for me.
I might just wear my (clean) fancy gardening gloves.

The place where i work, has opened but they are hardly getting any customers. The furlough ends for the company at the end September to my knowledge. I am not getting any shifts, despite the place being open.

It's almost impossible to keep track down here in Miami. We are still under a 10pm curfew, bars are closed, no indoor restaurants, no theaters, and not wearing a mask gives way to a $100 fine.

We are opening school on-line and working from home is still the most popular way of working. We each physically go to the office one day a week. On my floor, which normally holds as many as 50 or so people, is practically empty. In fact, I don't recall running into any one on my day in.

Our numbers are going down, but we are still seeing a daily average of over 1,000 a day and 20 to 30 deaths a day.

Auckland has gone into lockdown for another 3 days.
It's ok we were getting colds and sniffles anyway its the time of year. So I'm glad to stay home to rest but its not fun. Because now am stuck with parents on my case. Even when I'm sick :-(

I don't get paid when I take a sick day with one employer but if the govt decides on a lockdown I do get paid. Ironic. Apparently the money is going to run out in September.

I'm not planning to do any work while I'm not up to it. It's all a bit crazy here. I don't know how reliable those tests are, but some people would probably be angry if the positive tests in the community just turn out to be normal colds. However people dying every day is probably not where we want to be either.

Sorry to hear that you are sick :( Hope you are better real soon.

Its just a bit headachy but no pressure to go back to work or attend meetings is a relief!

Honestly I don't mind not meeting people for ages. Personally I think the entire winter season people should just stay home and not socialise lol. Who has the energy? Is there such a thing as being TOO social. Or is that 'socialism'.

I don't know. I've pondered what the difference is between 'society' and 'community' too. It seems to me 'society' is rich people socialising. Poor people form 'community'.
