How to keep the Dove of the Holy Spirit upon you with Agape Love!

I recently heard a story of a lady who, just before she entered a grocery store, had a dove fly out of nowhere, landing on her shoulder and staying there all day long. She was so overwhelmed with joy that she walked into the store carefully and softly, slowly trying not to scare the little dove. Everybody was so amazed that they stopped their actions and tried not to talk loudly to scare this dove.

This lady was a Christian but believed that the Lord sent this dove to her to help her realize how timid and gentle the dove of the
Holy Spirit is and how to be more careful not to offend him! In this story, we learn how important our attitude and words are and how they must be seasoned with God's agape Love to keep the Dove of the Holy Spirit around us. And yes, I've always known this in serving the Lord for over 45 years, but now more than ever, he's been filling me with more of His Love Agape than ever before, or I'm just yielding more to what I've always had in me, and I'm learning more through His Love to keep His dove resting on my shoulder much, much more! Thank you, Lord!

Many think today that they have the Holy Spirit working in their life, but there is no Agape Love of Christ that flows from their heart or spirit! This makes a Pharisee and a make believer, which hinders the Gospel of Christ!

Another thing to think about was Christ's example of obedience and humility in Jorden that caused the Dove to come and rest and abode upon him! Last thought, Perfect Agape Love, produces Humility, gentleness, and obedience, which causes the Holy Spirit's dove to come and abide upon our lives!

I want to go into more depth on God's Agape Love and the Dove of the Holy Spirit, but I would love to hear your thoughts on this!
Blessings!

Oops. One more thought. Remember that old song; On the wings of a snow-white dove, God sends down His sweet, pure Love! God's sweet, pure Agape Love is married to the snow-white dove! You can't have one without attracting the other!

We cannot have agape love if we do not have The Holy Spirit.

Faith, hope and love are all gifts, but love is the greatest.

John 13:35
By this will all know you are My disciples if you have love for one another.

Without love how can we reach anyone, for God is love.
No wonder The Holy Spirit us called The Comforter, He is pleadimg with us and for us, gentle, kind, patient and loving.

Oh thank you Lord, I feel your dove flying around me and in me in what my sister wrote!
Thank you for your perfect Love, and your Holy Spirit's dove, that makes your
Agape Love manifest in our life!

I like this little scripture that explains it in a child-like manner, as I am not very smart!;)

When His disciples asked Him, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Jesus called a little child to come to Him and chided them, saying: “Whosoever … shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matt.18:1, 4).

But humility in the Bible means getting your confidence from God, who loves and values you more than you do yourself. Biblical humility means believing what God says about you over anyone else's opinion, including your own. It requires embracing who you are in Christ over who you are in the flesh.

Also, Humility is always making the other guy seem bigger in his eyes than you portray yourself.
Yes, the Lamb is the most humble of all the animals. I always enjoyed driving by the sheep farms near
my place. Sometimes it would almost make me cry! And I think the greatest act of Humility, is a sacrificial life
for others! A lamb just lays there so sweetly and lets everything be sheared and stripped from him, to give
it away. And he does it over and over again, as it grows back.

Lord, teach me to be more humble, and let your Agape Love produce more wool in our lives to give to others, who are shivering in the cold and dark struggles of life!

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
(Joh 16:8-11)

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
(Joh 16:13-14)

I like the comparison to a child because a child is totally dependent on their father for their needs. Everything they have has been given to them. Food, shelter, clothing... all of their needs are met and some of their wants as well. How happy are we to see our children doing what is right and helping others. What a wonderful reminder for us that God is our father and we make Him happy in the same way. We are fully dependent upon God .

If you want to understand the incomprehensible (in so much as we can), a description of Agape is found in 1 Corinthians ch 13.

1 Corinthians 13:1-5 (NASB)
1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,
5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
6  does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
7   bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

To do a self examination to see if one is guided by this love, turn to Galatians 5 verses 22 & 23.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NASB)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

If one is guided by the Spirit and puts Agape in their actions, they will produce the fruit of the Spirit.

I have just today, been reading about what it means to meditate in Christianity.

I have just noticed Derek88 , that you are a good example of what King David was doing back in His day. Its inspiring😁

Thank you for your Agape Love today sister Fiona! The heart of Jesus encourages through you, and His Blessing's are following your life and ministry!

Amen, my brother. As a Sunday school teacher for many years, I was always touched by seeing God in children in their simple and humble faith. Reminds me of the little story of a man who came upon a child in a field that was kneeling and trying to pray, but all he could hear was her saying her ABCs. After she was done, he asked her what she was doing, and if she was trying to pray, but wondered why she was saying her ABCs. She replied with tears in her eyes, kind sir, I don't know how to pray, and don't know any prayers to say, so I just thought that Lord could take my ABCs and put together a nice prayer for me! Tears.......

While it is upliftng, if challenging, to consider what Love _is_, it is also instructive and maybe more challenging to consider what Love _is_not_

Looking again at 1 Cor 13, we see in verses 4 thru 6 that Love is NOT jealous. It does NOT brag, it does NOT brag, it is NOT arrogant. Nor does it act unbecomingly. It does NOT seek its own. It is NOT proviked, nor does it count wrongs suffered. Nor does it rejoice in unrighteousness.

Going again to Galatians 5, just before we read of the fruits of the spirit, we see the deeds of self centeredness:

Galatians 5:19-21
19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,
21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God

As a Christian I am chagrined to admit it, but all too often we sucumb to outbursts of anger, disputes and dissentions directed against our fellow Christians.

A small church dedicated to developing family units in a tight community derides a large church dedicated to speading Christ across the larger community (which is what evangelism is rather than a political stance).

The smaller church says that the larger church has given in to the evils of society (not necessarily). The Large church says the Holy Spirit must not be blessing the smaller church.

Bad witness both ways!

It is concerning how many things we find to argue about with our brothers.

Just look at the list of forbidden topics for this forum.

Agape seeks to understand rather than condeming.

Amen! Yes, encouraging in a post, helps uplift the reader, as there is some truth in every post, but not seasoned with God's Love, and wisdom, it not only affects the poster but the one who the poster is trying to bless! The Holy Spirit is an encourager, and is very wise, in not sowing discord among the brethren! Lord, I include myself in this to watch carefully what I say, for death and life is in what we speak in our writing! For I see many hidden motives in replies who seem to know so much Truth, but they so fail to emanate the spirit and heart of Christ when they speak.

Lord, help me to so monitor my motives and word's that I would make any to stumble or hinder what you want to accomplish in so many of these dear saint's posts that are trying to lift you up and strengthen your body, in Jesus name amen!
