Intellectual Milk Sippers

Hebrews 5:12 - 14
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers ... and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat... But strong meat belonged to them that are of full age,
Milk is good to help us feed but let us not limit ourselves by remaining intellectual Milk sippers, by just sitting by and being spoon fed but also men and women of action, feeding on the meat of the Word that only the Lord can supply. The Lord said the land is ours so go take it, but we know that it is the Lord's intention that we must fight for every inch of it just as a chick must peck his way out of the shell so must we fight to develop the character to be spiritually strong and healthy. Jacob wrestled with the Lord so must we for the spiritual blessings.

Why not the sausage and the milk at the same time both be nutritious and beneficial for understanding and growth

Why not the sausage and the milk "at the same time" both be nutritious and beneficial for understanding and growth

Good morning, Prim90;

"Sausage" and milk?!? lol!

Seriously though, that is a great question that gets asked all the time. Instead of "at the same" is actually "transitional growth" as a disciple of Christ.

It's understandable to slip back to a forgotten verse or misapply an action from Scripture but that's not digressing back to an occasional glass of milk. That's imperfection. The moment God spiritually grows us to feed on strong meat, there's no turning back.

For example, going from milk to meat, years ago when I was asked to assist with the children's ministry I wasn't ready but said I was willing. I had a lot to learn with small children.

I would bring myself down to the kiddie's level instead of leading as a grown up. This put a strain on the Children Minister. To me it felt normal (but it wasn't right.) As time went on I learned to interact with them as an adult though they were still children (5-11.)

Years later (and by then) when they became teens and young adults I could relate to them (and share Jesus) as they had grown up and they remembered me as a grown up and not someone who acted like a little kid with them.

God bless you, 2404, and thank you for another Word to ponder.

Bob

Well Bob we all be some different. There be a whole lot of meat in that sausage. More so with all the theological view points one has to consider. Enough to make one choke if you swallow too much without any milk. I like to hibernate in the psalms from time to time to give my mind a rest and to refresh. Thank you Bob. God Bess yes me fully understand you . But Primmy still like her milk : )
