Is it only in the UK?

Winter solstice

They’re remembering the winter solstice,
The shortest day of the year,
All is dark and gloom
The world has lost,
Can’t see the Sun
rise or set
For some time.

The darkness invades
Every corner
All hope fades
The world is wobbling on its axes,
Spinning out of control

No power no government
no billionaire, no oligarch
Can control,
The world’s in darkness
Can’t see hope for the future
They have turned their backs on the Son…
Keep trying the same old same old
Dressed up in different ways

But the darkness of disbelief blind them from the light
Desperate for the Son to
bring light to the world again

One soul stands in the darkness
A single light shines out
Then another and another
TIL like the stars in the sky they cover all the earth

Winter turns to spring and the world is
Refreshed,
New growth, new life…
Where there was desolation and war, poppies grow,
Where there were deserts
Springs of living water flows

Nothings changed, the worlds still in a mess,
Except you saw the light,
Saw that God was in it all,
Believing He has promised there will be seed time and harvest,
Time and tide will still roll.
You see the God of all creation
Has the whole world in His hands.

God bless you, Alan;

We are celebrating Jesus' Birthday this week. In my community despite the ways of the SF Bay Area celebrating for the wrong reasons, we're still bringing good cheer of Christ and Christmas to the men and women who are sick, hungry, homeless, the widows and widowers.

Merry Christmas, brother.
