In my opinion global warming has been caused by man's reckless abuse of earthy resources, ultimately destroying and altering the earth God created.
As a result, are the diseases we are now seeing a result of God's wrath upon the earth in return? Is it his way of thinning out the global population?
These questions, and more have recently been brought to my attention. I wished to address them here, for the diversity of opinions found among the body of Christ.
 
The diseases spread more due to international travel, which is happening a lot more due to aeroplanes, which use massive amounts of fuel (and shipping).
I am not sure what to think but a lot of the time you can't blame God and say they are a result of God's wrath, but our own fault for not having hygienic practices. If he sent a plague of locusts maybe, though even mosquitos will breed in stagnant places or places with lots of water that are inhabitable for humans (and maybe we should leave those places alone). Rats and mice with fleas inhabit dirty places and its spread more when humans somehow wanted to get rid of cats that kept the mice and rats in check.
Cancer also is caused because or radiation and the use of chemical herbicides and pesticides. You wouldn't say cancer is Gods way of thinning out the population or that people die of heart attacks that's a result of God's wrath. Satan just has a way of making humans self-destruct and then people SEEM to want to blame God for it and say its because He's angry.

Maybe a flood you can say God caused that, or an earthquake, or volcano erupting.

Interesting question what do others think.
 
I really do not know the answer to that question, but, if he is, why does He not just go after the corrupt and the greedy and strike awareness into the consumer culture so they stop buying stuff they don’t actually need?

Well, if we think about that real hard for a moment, we know that the virus survives longer in cold temperatures than hot, so that could mean that a warmer planet would slow the spread of the disease, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,Right????

IMO, it would seem that we try to place too much blame on global warming, IT does seem to me that it is getting hotter and I know that it is not because I am getting older and out of shape physically!!!!

Could it be the wrath of God.......that is very possible.

But here is another thought/fact. Puerto Rico has been hit very hard from COVID-19. However, they have not yet recovered, in terms of their public health infrastructure, from the devastating impacts of Hurricane Maria three years ago. So then the virus has the perfect window to operate in. So then we would have to blame hurricane Maria on God. Then of course God is in control of nature.

The experts would then say that the storm was made more destructive by unusually warm tropical Atlantic sea-surface temperatures, which provide more energy and moisture for the storm.......so the plot thickens. The question then must be......is global warming a man made thing or a naturally happening event.

I do however know that God has a plan and He is working that plan whether we like it or not.

Thinking about how our activities effect the climate;

If our burning of fossil fuels is a major contributor to global warming, and God loves us dearly, as He does, even more so when we are struggling to find a way to find a better alternative, then I’m quite sure His Awesome Power will help to clear up all the mess.

I mean; He created everything and knows everything, so it’s nothing for Him to clean up a little planet like ours. He’s been here far longer than us, and knows our weaknesses...
 
I think in general since humans have been on earth and now we are in the billions and spread to the furtherest corners, the earth has been warming, and I'm not convinced that our activities have been a direct cause of this warming or it's just a correlation.

Last time it got bad, God sent a massive flood over the earth. He opened up the fountains of the deep and it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. It tipped the earth on it's side practically (notice the north and south poles are on an angle) and that possibly cleaned everything up again, for a while. I mean massive massive amounts of water flooded the earth...the entire Pacific Ocean was created.

This time, as prophesised in the Bible, it's going to be judgement by fire. There is a huge ring of fire round the Pacific ocean made up of volcanoes and we know that our earth can move at any time to release them.

In terms of microclimate, well it is quite obvious that what we do affects the weather in our own little places and our wellbeing. if we cut down a lot of trees that absorb massive amounts of water, compact the soil that absorbs the water, remove canopy that provide shade and oxygen, it's going to have a cumulative effect. If our water supply is compromised, that affects everything else.

I recall Elijah prayed for rain...and it happened.
When it rains in the desert, there are actually dormant seeds in the ground waiting for many years for those drops of water to start life again. And when sun gets to dark places, again, seeds in the ground start growing, as they respond to hours of sunlight and ground temperature.
Some plants need fire to get going as the ash provides essential nutrients and the heat a kick start for many seeds. Wind also disperses a lot of seeds.

You can see the effect human activity has on seas that have massive algae blooms thanks to nitrogen run off. It creates a bit of havoc for US and disrupts the food chains but it's natures way of repairing itself, just as weeds start growing on disturbed soil, to cover the ground.

Now I have no idea. However, if you are a old earth advocate, and if we read and do some study of prehistoric history and we are concerned about pollution and global warming, think about how thickened with noxious smog, and methane gas the earth was 2.5 billion years ago. Scientists tell us that Back then, the Earth was dominated by methane gas and was engulfed by the atmosphere is such a way that light could barely reach the ground.

If you are are a young earth advocate then it would not matter as there would not be such a long history.
 
I don't know how those scientists really know unless they've invented a time travel machine that can go back 2.5 billion years. lol

I am not sure they were taking the temperature either. It never really says about the temperature of the earth in the Bible either. And of course WHERE would you take the earth's temperature? Or are people going on averages from many locations? And of course, there are probably locations where scientists have never been. So how do they know?

My dad is a metereologist and says over the past 30 years the average temperature has been rising at his particular weather station (in our backyard!) plus he looks at the extremes and sees weather patterns shifting, but it's always been unpredictable. Some years you may get may get higher than average rainfall, others more frosts, others heatwaves. I don't know if anybody's ever successfully pinned down the weather!! One thing I do know is that in Auckland, we only have ever had ONE snowfall in my lifetime. Auckland is a bit unique though as one of the few cities in the entire world that sits on an isthmus.

When you look at hardiness zones for plants on maps of the world, they vary in range from zones 0-10. And it depends on the geography of the land as well as latitude. For example inland and mountainous areas are quite different from plateaus and coastal areas.
All I know is it may be kinda interesting if we can grow more tropical plants in Auckland. I'm thinking bananas. Could be our next big thing..

sorry once I get going thinking...I have more thoughts

There have always been pandemics - (virus, malaria, chicken pox, measles, typhoid etc) throughout the ages since the beginning of history so I don't know if theres MORE or less. They seem to happen every century or so. Last century, historians have deemed it the most violent century of all because of the two WORLD wars. But then before that, there had always been wars where one group of people killed another group. (To thin out the population??)

So it doesn't seem we need a pandemic to do it. Us humans are quite capable of doing the dirty work ourselves by hating on each other and fighting.

I do not think that Gods wrath has occurred i think that the intelligence of man is causing our destruction. For example intelligence on intimacy is causing people to be gay and consider other options then being more natural. Car development and pollution is ruining the ozone layer and making the heat rays of the sun worse. There is food, we are making different kinds of foods and the more we tweak our foods and make them processed, the worse food is for us. Etc. There is some good from our intelligence for similar reasons.
 
After a bit of thought just now..
If it is Gods Wrath, then maybe we are all suffering from deep seated anger issues.
Anger itself isn't considered a disorder, but anger is a known symptom of several mental health conditions especially holding on to our anger is destructive.

I’m just guessing here...
 
I had heard that your esteemed leader of the free world and his wife has caught the virus.

Kings, Queens and leaders of countries aren't immune to sickness, disease and death, but by grace we are saved through faith, so...I think anyone who's been through suffering or cared for someone who has suffered will be a bit more understanding..that we are mere mortals.

Homosexuality has not increased because of "intelligence on intimacy ". It comes from the heart of men who are depraved which did not start yesterday but thousands of years ago!

Homosexuality is SIN not a sickness or choice.

Genesis 6:5-6......
"And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart."

I have to ask if the car industry has put more methane into the air than did the millions of dinosaurs who expelled methane gas over millions and millions years.

I am not trying to be argumentative, but if you look back at world history you will see that literally.......Billions of people died from the lack of food and food that was not processed correctly and killed the people who ate it.

Personally, I will take the food we eat today over what was available 1000 years ago.

'intelligence of intimacy' that s a new one?! It's not really that intelligent to stick things where they don't belong, or to be lax about hygiene. I think a lot of people died from food poisoning before refrigeration became the norm.

I don't know about the dinosaurs though. Their deaths are from which we get our oil from now (fossil fuels) ...so you could argue that humans are just recycling them.

As for pandemics, yesterday I was reading there's a pandemic of boys who fail at school. Pandemic seems now to describe anything bad that becomes widespread.
