So many times, God has spoken to me and taught me through a tragedy in my life, both small and GREAT!
Please share how God has Spoken to you in your peculiar way in a good or bad circumstance!
I'll go first. I was returning from a fishing trip when I lived in Alaska. I was pulling my jet boat behind my nearly new truck while listening to a tremendous fiery preaching sermon with a fellow brother when suddenly, my vehicle caught fire! The fire grew so fast as I was driving on the freeway at about 60 miles per hour that while trying to slow down, I got so scared that I popped my seat belt, opened my door, and jumped through the fire while my truck was still going 35 miles an hour! I landed on the highway and skidded across it with only a pair of sweats and a tee shirt. I was burned on my face, head, neck, hands, and arms, and I had a road rash that ripped all my skin off my hips and part of my four arms. As I lifted my head to look, my truck had veered off the road and went into a ditch while still pulling my 21-foot jet boat. The car was in flames, and I thought my brother was burning to death, but he had gotten out but was burned badly too!
My truck was burned, and I l lost my excellent $1800 do1800 dollar tar that was back seat, as we had just returned from having a powerful family camp revival. But my boat was saved by some passer by's. The ambulance came and took me to the hospital, giving me morphine for the extreme pain and was in. And it was a long six-month recovery that was so hard, as it was very hard to lay down because of the road rash burns on my backside. It was revealed later from the 200-yard burn marks on the road, and how the fire was more on the driver's side, that I would have died if I had waited to jump out after I stopped. It was also revealed that the cause of the fire was that a transmission line came disconnected and was spraying transmission fluid on my muffler pipes! But thankfully, my Guardian Angel was not on his lunch break at that moment, (giggle) But it was only by God's grace that I made it through.
Something funny to look back at, though, was my brother in Christ suddenly felt the truck was heading off the road and was jerking him around, and when it came to a stop, he looked over, and I wasn't there.
So how did God speak to me and teach me in my fiery trial? Well, for one, it's possible I was idolizing my new truck and guitar too much, and I had always asked the Lord to help me be a better witness for him because I was very shy, and in my six months of recovery, all bandaged up, I was able in those six months to witness about God's saving grace in my life than in all the years I was alive as a Christian. What Lessons did I learn from these circumstances? Be careful not to idolize anything, and testify in all things you go through both good and bad!
Now here is another great example of God speaking in circumstances that will Bless you!
Is your hut Burning?
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. "God, how could you do this to me!" he cried. Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground----it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God. For all the negative things we have to say to ourselves, God has a positive answer for it:
You say: "It's impossible" God says: All things are possible (Luke 18:27)
You say: "I'm too tired" God says: I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30)
Those who hope in the Lord will renew their Strength. (Isaiah 40:31)
You say: "Nobody really loves me" God says: I love you (John 3:16 & John13:34)
You say: "I can't go on" God says: My grace is sufficient (II Corinthians12:9 & Psalms 91:15)
You say: "I can't figure things out" God says: I will direct your steps(Proverbs 3:5-6)
You say: "I can't do it" God says: You can do all things (Philippians 4:13)
You say: "I'm not able" God says: I am able (II Corinthians 9:8)
You say: "It's not worth it" God says: It will be worth it (Roman 8:28)
You say: "I can't forgive myself" God says: I FORGIVE YOU (I John 1:9)
You say: "I can't manage" God says: I will supply all your needs (Romans 8:1)
