Kids and God

Are deep, intimate relationships with God not meant for young adults and children? Does God wait for adulthood?

The short answer, yes! If a child is called to be saved, they can have an intimate relationship with God. Like relationships here on earth, intimacy and maturity develops over time.

The way a child intimately loves his father and develops a relationship is different than when the same person grows into a man and loves his father. The relationships hasn't degraded, but it has grown and it has become more intimate (hopefully)

I was saved and baptized when I was 10. I went to church every Sunday on my own - my parents didn't go. I loved God. I did stray away into my late teens and 20s though, so I suppose I didn't have the maturity to resist the temptations of the world.

No, He doesn't wait. Children are important to God and that is why He instructs us to teach our children from birth about the things of God so that they will come to Christ early.

I know many Spirit-filled children...and they are farther along spiritually than many adults.

Matthew 19:13-15
One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.

14 But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” 15 And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.

Juk first of all we are all kids to Him.
Second we all are babies and have to grow up and some of us grow a little faster then others.
Thirdly, well it really depends on the kid Juk. No set rule but remember this....
Your brain is not even fully developed until around the age 21 or so.
God Bless

I think there probably needs to be a conscious choice at some point and kids have to go through a stage of "finding themselves".

Kids are important to Jesus,

If anyone causes one of these little ones--those who believe in me--to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

and we are all children.

And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

But I think we all grow up in our sort of human life terms and have to make our own free will choice.

But what if we have already made our choice to follow Jesus?

Then I must be doing something wrong.

I don't know Juk. If you were to look at my own life you would see so many disasters that you might even wonder "why does this bloke even say Jesus is the Son of God". Some seem to get a Paul type "blinding flash" and others (I'm 54) toil for years without reaching the state where we fully get there.

I'd feel confident in suggesting that Jesus will always hold your hand wherever you go. He, I think for reasons unknown to me has that sort of loyalty to us who have made the choice.

I can not know your own path or suggest it will be easy though.

Because I don't have an intimate relationship with God.

I've been reluctant to post this as it's something I've posted a few times and I can get like a record player with the needle stuck... but Juk try:

It's helped me through times of doubt

Hey Juk think on this-
Judging others - putting down on others including other servants of God and un-saved. Do these things ring a bell ? All that will bring your relationshipwith God and Jesus to a stand still. You can not walk out side of Love and expect to have this great relationship.
Just giving you something to think about.

When have I ever put down someone, excluding the so-called servants of God?

And why not Juk????

Whom do YOU say that the Lord Jesus Christ is?
I say that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the propitation for our sins, the risen Lord. The firstborn of all creation, and the Creator and sustainer of this world. And more that I don't remember right now.
