Let's Talk About David

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God" Philippians 4:6 (NASB).

David was anointed king as a teenager and it would be ~15 years before he would take the crown. For at least 10 years he was pursued by King Saul and hated by him. Think about that for a moment. You are anointed by God to be royalty and you have to wait for the proud king to be removed before you can fill your role and nearly the whole wait you spend running and fearing for your life. All the while not wanting to harm the one who wants you dead because he is still God's anointed as well.

What kind of heart is this? How can a person regard the life of someone who wants you dead and will gladly torment and terrorize you? How can we use this in these modern times to regard even our enemies as a life given by God and their having intrinsic value?

DISCLAIMER: I do not intend to provoke conversation toward political matters but only the open debate of an attitude that we should have to reflect Christ in our life especially when things "aren't going our way".
