8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
Major is not the word charity actually the word Love. Therefore Love is the topic.
As a child you speak silly and foolish things for you are without wisdom and education or knowledge and understanding.
But we grow up even in the things of God. We that is what we are to do but some folks seem to miss this part. Lol
I am still not understanding to how you arive at this. What am I missing here? I am trying brother.
Yes. Charity means love.
Yes. Love is the topic.
If we look back to previous chapter we see that is was about the endowment of spiritual gifts. Chapter 13 then tells us about the energy of those gifts.
All gifts of the Spirit are to be exercised in love which is the comparison that Paul is making.
That is why he uses the example of a child when it is young to a man who is mature. Paul singled out tongues, prophecy, inspired knowledge and supernatural faith as representative of all spiritual gifts and contrasted them with love as their superior because love is more important than anything else.
This contrast then has to do with the value of spiritual gifts. You see Jim, Paul said, Not me, (Paul) tongues are temporary and will end. Prophesies will be fulfilled and then become history. Knowledge will cease. An example would be that just 200 years ago we all knew that the world was flat and that the sun revolved around the earth.
But then he compares them to love and say that love will never fade away or end.
I am sorry to have confused you on this topic. It was not my intention at all.
