Amen! Thank you, Bob, and good morning.
This is an excellent spiritual point and a good self-assessment
method. I used to pray long prayers and get commended for
the way that I could pray but I didn't edify myself or God by
saying those long prayers. Sometimes "help" can be all the prayer
we need.
You won't get complemented for short and simple prayers by
mankind but the whole point in life is a personal relationship with
our Savior in a sincere in respectful manner. Lots more than can
be said on this topic but I will just end with:
"And when you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they
love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners
so that they will be seen by people. Truly I say to you, they have
their reward in full." (Matthew 6:5; NAS)
"And when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the
Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their
many words." (Matthew 6:6; NAS)
