Put the Rumor to Rest

Put the Rumor to Rest
And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt...but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
– Exodus 10:22-23

Years ago Satan started a rumor. He told a few Christians they had to live like the world, sharing all the same misfortune, defeat, poverty and failure as those around them. Well, the word spread. You may have heard the rumor yourself. But I am telling you right now that it is a crafty lie.

The Word of God says in Psalm 91:10, that evil can’t even come near your house if you are abiding in Him.

In John 16, Jesus Himself says He has deprived the world of power to harm you. And Exodus 10:23 says that when thick darkness surrounded the Egyptians, the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

By these and other scriptures, you can see that God never intended you to experience all of the junk that the world suffers. He’s always wanted His children to live above it, to stand out as light in a dark world.

In the Old Testament, God’s fame was established because of the miracles He had worked for His children. That same thing should be true today with you and me. We should be glorifying God by the miraculously victorious lives we live. People should be coming up to us and saying things like, “I’ve heard how God healed you.” Or, “I’ve heard how your children were delivered from drugs,” or, “God has really brought you out of a financial crisis.”

Can you see now why Satan would spread a rumor that would make you believe you have to suffer with the world instead of live as victor over it? He doesn’t want people running after you asking where you get your power, your peace, your health and prosperity.

But that’s exactly what God wants to happen. So, put the Word of God to work and dare to receive the blessings He has promised to you. Let the light of God’s power in your life put the devil’s dark rumors to rest!

This post inspires me to share - There is this saint called St Giles. He was french, and lived from about 650 to 710 AD the story is that he had wealthy parents (perhaps royalty?) but he was orphaned when he was young. He had all the wealth and prosperity in all the world he had inherited but he gave up all he had to devote his life to Jesus and live in the woods with the animals whom he looked after and did many miracles by healing them as he was so close to God. God gave him a deer that would provide him with milk as he couldnt bear to kill and eat an animal.

One day the king was riding in the woods and was shooting. He was going to shoot the deer but got Giles instead with an arrow. Giles had taken the arrow instead as he was protecting the deer. The king was so impressed by his compassion and willing to suffer to protect the animal that he offered lots of land for giles to have a monastery. GIles didnt want to accept as he was happy with his solitary life in the woods but the King insisted. That is why so many churches and hospitals are named after this saint.

Jesus was willing to give his life for us, and that did involve suffering, being nailed to a cross is not easy! So its not that we never suffer, its that we can live beyond our present sufferings, we take up our cross and follow Him.
Jesus got the victory, but it was the way of the cross. Job also suffered, but he was patient and got victory when God gave him more than he had before.

Give God the glory for the miracles he has worked in your life that got you so far today. It was none of your own doing, it's all His. The God who rescued the israelites from the egyptians and parted the Red sea is the same God who took our sins from us, Jesus blood paid for those sins. Why did Jesus come? So we dont live like the world, we dont have to live in sin. We can be free from crushing debt, hes paid for it.
We can be healed, hes taken those stripes for us..he was whipped and beaten with 39 lashes.
We can say NO to temptation and tell satan to get lost. Hes put the devil in his place. He gives us power and suthority to stomp on snakes and scorpions.

Rahab had much faith in God because she had heard how God had parted the red sea for the israelites. By declaring her faith she was willing to hide those spies and ask God to save her and her household. God did, the city of Jericho was destroyed but Rahabs family was saved. Even tho she was a harlot! God worked a miracle in her life, she was so grateful she no longer lived in sin. (I dont know about your town, but if the main industry is prostitution things are definitely going downhill)
