Ecclesiastes 4:6 "Better is an handful with quietness, than both hands full with travail and longing of spirit."
Quietness is a tremendous blessing, especially during times when there is chaos and confusion all around us. I have had many days in my life that were chaotic and lived at a frantic pace where all I did was handle one emergency after another and by the end of the day I felt as if I had been run through the ringer and I was without peace. On the days filled with stress I would come home from work and seek a few moments of quiet and peace but my wife and four children did not always aid in this endeavor. The work that I do now is not as I did when my children were young, but I still have days where there is much to be done and the urgent can remove my eyes from what is important if I am not diligent in my focus.
Quietness is a great blessing, and peace is a most precious thing. I believe that quiet and peace find their beginning in love, and when our hearts are rooted in love we learn the power of trust, surrender and acceptance, and these three things greatly impact quietness and peace. My words can not prove this unto you for quietness and peace must come from within those who seek. I do know that when love is strong that calm, quiet, peace, surrender, trust and acceptance will increase. We all need a place of quiet rest, a place of solitude on occasion, but quietness can be found in the storm when there is love and peace within. Quietness is found in different ways by each of us, but it is my prayer that each who reads my words this day shall find quiet rest within their heart and life this day and in the days to come.
