“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!”
Philippians 2:5-8

We can love Jesus in the hungry,
the naked, and the destitute who are dying…
If you love, you will be willing to serve.
And you will find Jesus in the distressing disguise of the poor.

Humility is often in short supply, yet we more than Christ have great need for humility. Of ourselves we can do so little and that little with out God is even suspect. God's Spirit in us makes possible a life in the spirit walking in love and faith with knowledge of how truly insignificant we are of ourselves.

Thanks for this reminder Bob Wille

To me, humility is the exact opposite of pride. In pride, we "puff ourselves up".
In humility, we acknowledge our tendency to sin, and that we cannot do otherwise without God's help.

Ah but it more than our tendency to sin, because we see to that Christ humbled himself who was without sin.

It is matter of perceiving our general physical weaknesses inherent in the flesh as well. Who can be trusted around us, how little control we actually have on our own, our physical inability to discern much of anything without help from God. We are actually very dependent on others in many respects. Coming to trust God knowing that need for his help, guidance, strength, discernment, mercy, etc.

I'm just scratching the surface here.

Jesus, Our Lord and Saviour, The Som of God knelt down and washed the apostles feet. He came down from His place in heaven and rode a donkey. He was mocked, tortured and murdered for mankind. He never took the glory and always pointed people to The Father. We have nothing to be proud about.
We are well blessed if we are given the opportunity to help someone and also point them to the Lord.
Great thread.

I agree..."we are well blessed if we are given the opportunity to help someone and also point them to the Lord."
