Remorse

Romans 10:9-10 King James Version (KJV)

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

"Righteousness" get it? Jesus is the savior from sin. Salvation is by grace. If you are obsessing about sins you are still hung up on works. The rest of Romans explains the concept carefully, especially chapter 6.

Yes, I agree completely that Jesus saves us from sin. But that is NOT the point. The point is that even after we are saved from the sin we have committed, we will sin again tomorrow.

We are forgiven of that sin even before we commit it, but the fact is "WE still commit sin".

“SIN” is any thought, word, or action that is contrary to the character or law of God. We all sin which is why I posted Romans 3:23.......
"ALL have sinned and come short of the approval of God."

Even what we consider good deeds are often tainted by selfish motives or pride as seen in Isaiah 64:6...........
"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

Left to ourselves, it is impossible to please God or to be completely free from sin which is what is said in Romans 3:10...........
"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one".

Those Scriptures DO NOT exclude Christians or at least when I read them I do not see that stated.

Then in Ecclesiastes 7:10 we have..............
"Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions."

Before we were saved, we were formerly slaves to sin, but after coming to Christ we are now “slaves to righteousness” ( as seen in Romans 6:16.
The Bible teaches us that Sin’s control has been broken by the power of Jesus.

Romans 6:6.............
"For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin".

That Scripture does NOT SAY that the Christian does not sin anymore. It actually says that, "WE should no longer be slaves to sin".

However, we still live in the flesh, and the flesh is prone to want what it wants.

In Romans 7:21-23 Paul says AFTER HE WAS SAVED.............
"So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me."

Now just in case all of that does not help, then consider that 1 John was written to Christians. The apostle says, in 1:8-9 that...........
“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”.

It is clear from this passage that even those who have been born again and redeemed by the blood of Jesus will still sin.

Major, I appreciate your concern, but I get the impression that you have not read Romans. Or maybe you looked at the pages and recited what you thought it should say. That is very common among Christians, the direct cause of denominations.

It is not reliable to let people tell you what the bible says. Many people will make up stuff because they don't know what it says, and many will make up stuff because they wish it would not say what it says. You just have to read it for yourself.

Read a chapter of Proverbs every day. Proverbs has 31 chapters so you can keep your place by just looking at a calendar. There is no religion or nothing in Proverbs and you don't have to believe anything. Just read to find wisdom.

When you are comfortable with that, then read the bible from Romans to 2 Thessalonians over and over until you start to remember passages. That is the part that applies to Christians. Here is a book to help you to understand the bible. It's available for free download and you can get a hard copy at any bible book store. www.google.com/search?q=e+w+bullinger+how+to+enjoy+the+bible

I think with sin the temptation is there but you now have the ability to resist it, which you didn't before.
That means you are no longer trapped or 'slave to sin' since Jesus sets you free.

check out Galatians...2 verse 20
When Paul said: I've been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I that live but Christ lives in me, and the life I live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loves me and gave his life for me.
I do not frustrate the grace of God, for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain,

Key is living by FAITH.
Are you living by faith or frustrating God's grace.?

context here is Peter was afraid to eat with the gentiles cos he thinks their eating habits will corrupt him and what other Jews would say if he was seen with them.
But thing is if Peter was living by faith, no matter how the gentiles ate it wouldn't stop him from eating with them or preaching to them.

I am not sure what this has to do with pornography..but any sin we might have done in the past has been cleansed so that we don't need to have any reason to continue in it - thats why we now live BY FAITH not just in the flesh and carrying on if nothing has happened to change us. If we have died with christ we then rise and live with christ in us. We don't go on carrying on constantly repeating our old lives like rereading yesterdays' newspaper - it's dead and buried.

If you haven't thrown away whatever sin it is why not do it now. Who needs it? Did Jesus get crucified and offer His precious gift of grace so you could continue to get your thrills from ogling naked people? I don't think so. And don't those naked people need to be clothed in Christ too?

???

I have these posts in a file and I copy & paste a passage when I need one. I have been posting that passage for years. It is common for people to disagree, but you are the first to take offense. I am willing to improve my presentation, but I need specific advice on how you think I should improve.

I think theres been a misunderstanding along the way here.

A christian can still sin, but now has the power to resist. If a christian does stumble, he/she can repent and ask forgiveness and be free and reconciled.
An unbeliever just sins all the time, even without thinking and has no power to resist, or way of stopping. When Jesus says that some people will die in their sins, it means they haven't been forgiven.

Yes, it is very common to disagree, and no one has to agree with anything I post because I am not a Biblical scholar. I have sat in front of a few, and read many more but I am not one. But actually you did not debate or discuss the thread issue at all.

Now it may be just me but as I am an old country boy from N.A. .......there when some one says ...............
"Major, I appreciate your concern, but I get the impression that you have not read Romans."

I do not know what that is called where you come from but where I come from, That my friend is an insult to ones intelligence and is disrespectful.

Then when you said...............
"It is not reliable to let people tell you what the bible says. Many people will make up stuff because they don't know what it says, and many will make up stuff because they wish it would not say what it says. You just have to read it for yourself."

Yes, what you posted was in fact saying that I am Stupid. That again is an insult and should not have been said to anyone because it is personal and has nothing to do with the thread.

Now if that is the way you speak to others and NO ONE has taken offence, I have to question that comment because I can not accept it. No one I know would Not Be offended at your comments.

You asked for specifics so I will tell you some.

Instead of speaking to the issue you focused on ME, and attempted to make it seem that what I said about the issue at hand is wrong because I am stupid and unintelligent so what I said about the issue then must be ignored and rejected. All of that is disrespectful to any person.

In your post #23, you did not speak to the thread....."Remorse" one single time. It was all directed PERSONALLY at me....not the subject of the thread.

Then you went on to say that my memory is not intact as you said...........
"When you are comfortable with that, then read the bible from Romans to 2 Thessalonians over and over until you start to remember passages. "

My advice for you, since you asked, if your excuse for your rude and disrespectful behavior is because of some files where you have saved comments, if I were you I would delete the posts you have saved in a file and stop copy and pasting from them and use your own Christian led heart to say the acceptable things to other peoples instead of mean, personal and insulting comments to Christians.

Now I personally am not going to continue down this road with you. You can take what I gave you because YOU asked for specifics and allow it to help you or you can ignore all that I said and keep right on being what you are.

If you want to discuss Christian and Biblical subjects in a friendly way, I am your daisy. But if You you want to be disrespectful and argumentative, then please use the "Ignore" option for me.
