My life can be stressful and I have a few ways of resting in The Lord. I use them when I want to Talk God, or when things are getting too tough, or at bedtime.
Prayimg, listening to, or singing, hymns, listening to the word of God on my cds, or meditating. I sometimes go into the summers house, the birds singing ad I pray to the Father. Any of these things give me peace and make me feel close to God.

Something happened a few weeks ago that amazed me. I love nature and God's creation, it is so beautiful. Woods and forests fascinate me and when I get stressed I sometimes close my eyes and imagine i an walking in woodland. The birds are singing, the brook is rippling and the air is sweet and fresh. I sit on the grass and soak all the surroundings. It is relaxing and peaceful. I don't stay there long, have to get on but I feel refreshed.
A few weeks ago I visited my imaginary woodland, this is what happened.

I closed my eyes and walked into the woods, but I had no control of what was happening. I walked up the usual path, it was a bit gritty and quite narrow. I didn't stop where I usually sit. I felt happy and free
The brook wasn't there. It was a narrow river and it was beautiful, running along the side of me.
I kept on walking for quite a way and somehow I knew I was nearly there. A harvest mouse ran across my path. He stopped and looked up at me. I smiled and kept on walking. It was such a long way but wonderful.
I was looking for my tree. There was a rock near it and as I got closer it got bigger. At last I reached it. I sat on the grass leaning my back on the tree and my hand on that rock that I loved much. It was very peaceful. I stayed a long time I didn't want to go but I knew u had to and eventually it was time to leave. That's ok because I can go there any time I want to.

Do you have a special way of resting in The Lord?

I love it when God speaks a promise or opens up my understanding to a portion of His Word as I ponder it and God. It truly is rest for my soul .
I use to do the nature thing back in the '60's but all I got were mosquito bites, and a blade of grass appeared as sharp as steel.
No matter how beautiful the forest, my anxieties would still saturate my mind.
(But to each his/her own.)

You said you had no control over what happened in your imagination. And a mouse ran past you that you didn’t imagine yourself?

that’s just so cool.

That happened to me once when I was doing visualisation too.
Only I was at a beautiful beach and some scary monster jumped out at me that I had no control over and my visualisation came to an abrupt end as I nearly jumped out of my skin🙁

I have never wanted to try it since because I had no answer to what happened.

why do you think these kinds of things happen in imaginary visualisation?

edit. To answer original question:
I enjoy listening to and making music.

Hi crossnote

Sorry the forest was not helpful. That must have been frustrating.
I agree about the medittting on God's word. It is wonderful when you talk to God and ask Him for understanding. God knows you want the truth, no matter what it may cost you. So He tells us and it makes you feel so close to Him. We have a most wonderful God. It makes your spirit soar.

Hey Via
That is an extraordinary experience. I wouldn't have liked that monster. The Harvest mouse wasn't scary, but he seemed to be very curious about me. I always pray first. I can't remember chapter and verse, but I love Paul's message to think of all things beautiful. I try to imagine Christ sitting on the throne next to the Father, but I think it is beyond our imagination.

I like music too. The universal language. I sometimes listen to Chris Rice singing How Great Thou Art on You Tube. I love that hymn. To me it's the story of the bible in a tiny nutshell. It reminds me how magnificent and filled with love God is. I think to myself WOW!
I like peaceful music hymns, light classical, anc pipe music.

What kind of music do you like?
You said you like to make music.
Do you play an instrument, or even write your own?

Cosia and Via;

I shared before that my child therapist told my parents that I had a vivid imagination. First of all, blue is my favorite color. I find myself imagining being outside in the dark with a view of a sharp blue sky in the night, the reflection of the moon on a blue lake, eating a salad with bleu cheese. I'm alone but know God is looking down on me, feeling loved and safe.

I have to admit that you both are kinda scaring me with your imaginations, as I just envisioned a large monster mouse chasing me and as I passed a mirror I looked like a tiny cat.
lol!

That reminds me of an old '50's flick, "The Incredible Shrinking Man" where he ends up in the basement continually defending himself from his own stalking cat, and a hungry spider etc..

I have a Guitar, I like playing the piano, and I will have a go at anything to make sounds with. Haha
But I am a master of none.
I also like making electronic music.

Imagination scares you. Who would have thunk such a thing??????!!!

I sat today watching it rain. I began to think that I would be in the Olympics' this summer. I could see myself swimming in the 100 meter race.
I out ran everyone by 10 meters and won the gold medal!!!
Then when I saw myself in that little swim suit......I realized it was a nightmare and woke up in a cold sweat!

Hows that for imagination????????

I am so afraid of seeing myself that the mirrors in my house are too high for me to see. I don't like nightmares.
