Revealed Faith in a Secular World

In Romans 1:8 the Apostle Paul identified the displayed faith in the Roman Church, this is especially notable considering the persecution at the time. How do we measure up to that level of scrutiny? Are we truly beacons of light in a dark world or are to often found with our light hidden under a bushel? Is it possible to both declare the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a world that so often would rather use His name in blasphemy and live in accordance with His Word and Will when the world would rather burn His Word and deny His will?

Hi Tsavah2
Great post. The answer to your question is No I do not measure up to that level of scrutiny
It is something I am struggling with
I find at times that my patience is tested by the attitude of some who ignore what is truly relevant, they will accept the foolishness of this world and yet cannot see the truth. I know that our enemy has blinded their eyes and it is so imperative that we live as Christ so that through the Holy Spirit the eyes will opened. My frustration won't bring them to the Lord only God in His grace can change me and prompt me to show more love and compassion. It seems that time is short and our opportunities seem to be less each day. I know that I have failed at times to be effective in my witness and I know this was due to my inexperience and my lack of commitment. We can not waste an opportunity to show love, to be a ' Barnabas' , to be an encourager, to smile rather than frown, to forgive rather than get angry. Only the Holy Spirit can truly bring about change and I bow to His leading. Please pray that I may be a better witness through my words and life. Thank you and God Bless

Sometimes the best witness is your silent presence. People always watch. They always appraise. It is by one's actions that others judge us. Sometimes we get excited and want to explain Jesus in words. That can be a turn off for many. But when we show Jesus in our demeanor and presence it sends an undeniable message.
Thank you for your advice, I must admit that at times I have had my thoughts all in order to share a passage of encouragement but the translation between my brain and mouth seem disconnected, so I falter. I know it is a confidence thing and I know that at times I try to do it in my own strength instead of relying on the Holy Spirit. It just seems that there is a real urgency at the moment to share the Gospel especially with my family and friends. God Bless

Well said, Tsavah2. God is faithful and builds us up from the heart. What's truly wonderful is the spiritual conscious within ourselves to confess what you just did. Many of us have been there and may still be there.

God bless
you, brother, and I'm blessed to fellowship and pray with you.

My patience is not as good as it used to be. I do not like the feeling and pray for help with it. That is all we can do as well as perserverimg and fighting the good fight. We are asking for something good , The Lord will hear us.
Bkess you brother.
.

This is a such real thing!
I almost nearly gave up learning to drive.
I was just too terrified of failing.
Even today, I still feel like throwing the towel in. More so when I start the car in the drivers seat. I sit there for a few minutes and pray. I have now started to visualise the victory. It has helped tremendously. Praying for you brother

My dear friend, we are to be "obedient" with out regards to how we feel.

And your obedience literally holds eternal consequences. Some you will clearly see, and others you won’t. But obedience is so important tht I can not overstate it. It is the Christian’s responsibility to share the Gospel, then let the Holy Spirit do the work and the worry!!!!
Remember that you are a necessary part of the Great Commission here on Earth.

I'm so thankful that the Shepherd leads me I know what happens to sheep without a true Shepherd. It seems that the path behind is littered with many mistakes, Praise God that He can take my mistakes and use them for good. God Bless

I guess I am a little like Paul I want to rush ahead of the Lord instead of waiting for His leading, and a little like Martha rushing around instead of being satisfied to be seated at Jesus feet like Mary listening rather than doing. I know it is patience I am lacking and I need to wait on the Lord more. Thank you for your advice. God Bless

Correction to my last post I meant Peter rather than Paul. Too often Peter was impetuous and I am afraid I am a bit that way, I will rush ahead where Angel's fear to tread instead of waiting on the Lord. God Bless

Correction to my last post I meant Peter rather than Paul as he was very impetuous and I know I am guilty of that at times instead of waiting on the Lord. I too often tread where Angels fear to tread and find myself trapped in no man's land, unprepared and uncertain whether to continue. Thank you for your advice. God Bless
