Sabbath 1/5/19 Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Pastor Ken sermon “Stewardship Evangelism” Acts 10:9-17

Now all of you know that I, as pastor, do not like to talk about church finances. But…we all need to be committed to consistent giving of our tithes & offering. The tithe is spent for the Kingdom of God. A study was done that says the average adult in the United States gives $26.00 a week to their church. Some give more and some give less but God blesses ALL giving. There is an “alternative” we have to digging in our pockets and it’s called Stewardship Evangelism. Stewardship Evangelism is sharing the Good News of Jesus. It’s getting people to visit the church, get saved and join the church. Their life will be changed forever because they met Jesus as Lord. We also will get another $26.00 a week.
Our scripture text today shows us four things:
  • It’s Good to be Alone: Peter was on the rooftop alone. God comes to us when we are alone. Moses was on the mountain alone and Gideon was also alone when God spoke to him. Jesus went to the mountains by Himself to listen to God.

  • Peter had a Change of Heart: The sheet came down from Heaven with unclean animals and Peter would not eat them. God said to take/eat them and Peter said no way to God. He said no to God but then he had a change of heart. Peter listened to what God said and talked to Cornelius’s men, the Gentiles.
  • Taking the Gospel to Gentiles: Peter learned that no one is unclean. God wants us to look at other people and not call them unclean. We don’t decide who we can’t tell the Gospel to. We cannot say no to telling
  • the store clerk or the gas station attendant about the Gospel.

  • God Will Send Someone: We need to share about Jesus and the Gift of Life He gives us. We have to pray for people, build a relationship with them and then tell them about Jesus. This is Stewardship Evangelism. God will send people to us to tell about Jesus. When God send us people, we have a choice to share the Good News or slam the door on them. Peter went to Cornelius’s house, shared the Gospel and Cornelius’s WHOLE house got saved!
It is… I bring one, you bring one. You bring an unsaved person, I bring an unsaved person and we lead them to Jesus together. Is there someone in your life that you should ask if they know Jesus? Don’t put it off! Win them, win them one by one! Steward Evangelism is an alternative we must do for the Kingdom of God. Look at others as people who ARE worthy of the Kingdom of God and ask God to send you someone.
AMEN
