Sabbath 10/1/16 Seventh Day Baptist Daytona Minister Terri sermon “What Will Truth Do to You?” Ephesians 4:10-16
Sometimes when there is a truth, it may be a harsh truth that we don’t want to hear. What is truth, really? The Webster dictionary says truth is an accepted statement and an agreement with fact and reality. There are 200 instances of truth in the Bible. God wants us to take truth and mix love with it as we tell the truth to someone. There are many harsh truths in the Bible. We can give these truths with love. It’s like when a friend gets a fish sandwich with onions and afterwards their breath stinks. We should just take them aside and give them a mint without letting anybody else know why.
God wants us to go to one another in godly love and tell them the truth. In the Bible, the woman at the well was told a harsh truth by Jesus. He said she had had five husbands and the man she has now was not her husband. Jesus even talking to her was a surprise because He was not supposed to talk to her because she was a Samaritan woman. Jesus told her of His love and the living water He had for everyone. God is there for everyone. We need to hold onto God always because He is the strongest one of all.
No matter what’s going on today in our world, there is a God. We need to know the truth that He’s trying to tell us today. God deals with all of individually and He also deals with us as a whole group. As we grow in God, our love and truth will grow in stages too. He will tell us the same thing that may sound slightly different as we grow in God. We need to take the truth and be that truth that God wants us to show to other people. We are supposed to do it, not harshly but with love. Invite them to church lovingly and let them have the truth in love. Don’t fuss at them about not going to church and that’s why they are having the troubles they have. Instead invite them to talk to your pastor and invite them to church. Let them have the truth with love. My question is, what will the truth do to you?
