Sabbath 11/15/14 Daytona Beach Seventh Day Baptist Pastor Wray sermon “We Must Forgive Others?” Matthew 6:14-15

If you don’t forgive others when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will not forgive you your sins. We must remember the impact of this verse. We must forgive others. This scripture is not complicated and Jesus’ words are clear. This concept is clear. Sometimes this concept can be hard for us to get and hard to do. We need to look at how forgiving we are. We need to get it right! The verse is not saying you get saved by forgiving others. It is saying that forgiving is a way of life that we should cultivate. Can you say Amen?

People who are really saved are forgiving people and are not just doing it one time. Forgiving others increases more and more as the love of Christ penetrates into our hearts. We become more forgiving people. As the love of Christ gets deeper into us, we become more forgiving. Forgiveness is a by-product of genuine salvation. As we grow, mature and see others making mistakes, we correct them but we are understanding. We understand that they have not yet matured as much as we have.

We should be the most forgiving people in our neighborhood. People should say that we don’t hold grudges, we don’t find fault. They should say we don’t try to make people pay for what they did but instead just let it go. They should say we just move on and we are not petty or a scorekeeper of what they did to us. When God really blesses us and we understand His forgiveness, we are not scorekeepers. God is forgiving and that’s what people ought to say about us. The closer we get to Jesus, the more people should say we chose forgiveness. It is not that we are soft or that we are weak. We just choose to forgive and be more like Jesus. In our forgiveness with others, we are more like Jesus. We should want this trait to be in each one of us. We must forgive others.
AMEN
