Sabbath 4/6/19 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith sermon “Speaking with Maturity”

Sabbath 4/6/19 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith sermon “Speaking with Maturity” Hebrews 5:7-14

In Jesus’s life on earth, He said prayers and petitions to God the Father. Like Jesus, we should pray to God and get discernment and understanding from God. We need to learn to use our life experiences and testimonies to proclaim the Gospel. We need to get comfortable in sharing the Word of God. We need to trust God because He places us in the right places, at the right time to talk to people about Jesus. Before God sent Moses, Moses said he couldn’t speak to the people. God asked him “who made man’s mouth?” God said to trust Him and He would help Moses speak.

We want people to see the light of God in us so we shine before men. We are to be mature servants of God and we need to take care of any church business that needs to be done. We are to give ourselves fully to the Lord. We should look for opportunities to share and teach the Word. Teaching is a major responsibility of God’s people. David taught us through his psalms and songs. Moses taught us thru the law and commandments of God. Paul instructed Timothy how to teach in all the churches. Jesus gave us the great commission to teach the Word of God to all nations. We are to teach and worship God.

We should talk about the Word and our Faith throughout each day. The Lord wants all of us to tell of our experiences with the Lord. Teaching does not have to be in a formal setting. It is important for us to learn scriptures, to study the Word and to share with others. We should always prayerfully study the scriptures for ourselves. Then the Holy Spirit will teach us and tell us how to teach others. If you are a child of God, you will be compelled to study the Word.

When we don’t read the Word, we will be unprepared and still be baby Christians. We will still be caught up in the secular world. We must study the Word of God to demolish the devil’s strongholds. The weapon we use is the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. Using this weapon has made Christianity the most powerful religion in the world. Christianity has persevered by the power of God’s Word. As Christians, our goal should be to study the scriptures until we are able to teach God’s Word to others. Take the Bible seriously!

AMEN
