Sabbath 5/25/19 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith sermon “The Better Blood” Hebrews 9:11-28
A simple cleansing changes the value of almost everything. We were stained with sin but once we are cleansed thru the blood of Jesus, we have value again. God did choose an unusual method of cleansing us up. He uses the blood of Jesus to cleanse us. Are you washed with the blood of the lamb?
Blood usually causes stains on clothes and other things that it comes in contact with. Blood stains are usually hard to get out. God uses the blood in our body to clean out the filth that is in our cells and internal organs.
God uses blood to cleanse us spiritually because life is in the blood. Blood takes away the filth of our sins. Blood is life and gives us life again. During the Passover, blood was put over the Israelite’s door to stop the death angel from killing the first born. Blood gave life to the people.
Blood also represents the price that had to be paid to wash away the sin. It was impossible for the blood of goats and lambs to wash away the sins of the world forever. The blood of the animals just pushed back the sin for another year which is why there were annual sin offerings. The blood of Jesus purifies us totally. All of our sins are against God so it had to be Jesus’s blood to purify us. Also, Jesus has the right to forgive us. He is the Lamb of God and the Son of God!
