Sabbath 7/28/18 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith sermon “Everywhere You Go” Acts 16:6-15

Jesus said He came to seek and save the lost. We must not let fear stop us from trying to rescue the lost. This is the lost that are sinking into sin while we are in a lifeboat safe with Jesus. Be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. In verse 6 & 7, the Holy Spirit told Paul not to go to certain areas. In Psalms it says “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord“. Sometimes God open doors for us to go through and sometimes God closes a door.

Jesus knows where He wants us to go and what He wants us to do. When the Holy Ghost says go out to encourage people to turn to Jesus, we should do it. Go out and tell people everywhere about Jesus. We are to be fishers of men. An evangelist is a nobody seeking to tell everybody about somebody who can help anybody. This somebody is Jesus Christ!! We should have the Word of God and Jesus engraved in us that everywhere we go it shines out of us. Wherever God is leading us, we should go because God will help us gain souls for Christ. The vision of Jesus is for us to tell people about the gift of Eternal Life in Christ Jesus.

Paul got into a boat and crossed the Aegean Sea to preach the gospel. The first church was started in Philippi and Lydia became the first convert to Christianity. The Lord opened her heart to accept the gospel. Only God can open up the hearts of people to hear and accept the gospel. We can argue and open up the scriptures but it won’t work unless God opens their heart. Paul said not to argue about the gospel with people. It will just lead to anger and bitterness. Only God can open their heart. Some people don’t think much about the Lord until they need His help.

Paul opened up the scriptures. God opened up Lydia’s heart. Lydia opened up her house to them and the first church was started. We must not be “off duty” when we leave the church, but be ready to tell the gospel message everywhere we go. We have received the Great Commission from Jesus Christ the Son of God.
