Sin

All have sinned and are not good enough for God’s glory,
and all need to be made right with God by his grace, which is a free gift.

They need to be made free from sin through Jesus Christ.”
Romans 3:23-24

Augustine's stages with sin:
1. Lord make me good, but not yet.
2. Lord make me good, but not entirely.
3. Lord make me good.

God in his great love has chosen to forgive us this huge debt of sin. That abundant grace he shows is an awesome gift. This is one of so many thing to be thankful to our God for. He opens the way to salvation and lifts us out of the miry clay that we struggled in getting no where.

This puts me in mind of John 13:10, which says, "Jesus *said to him, “He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet; otherwise he is completely clean. And you are clean—but not all of you.” (NASB). If the Law was sufficient to clean they would have been clean all over but the plan wasn't yet fulfilled. "So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free." (John 8:36, NASB). We then are made free from the old plan and we have become the Ark under the new covenant. Everything we will ever need to be has been done and placed inside of us. If we are to follow the Law it is because the Law has been placed in us. "It is finished" (John 19:30, NASB).

There is nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing which can make His plan better or ourselves more holy. He did it all! Not by works unless a man brags (Ephesians 2:9).

Here's what I struggle with: God created us as fragile, broken people: Starting with Adam.
But then we are penalized for any sinful act we commit...in thought, word, action.
We then need to admit our sinful ways, and ask for God's forgiveness.
My presumption is that it forces us to come to know God (Christ), and to put our complete
faith and trust in Him.

Looking at man and sin and sin’s penalty as God making us broken and then penalizing us for acting broken is looking at things wrong.

A common attribute associated with the things God made was that it was GOOD and God saw that it was good. God made us for fellowship. He Created us in fellowship and love. But man did not value that fellowship enough to remain in God’s presence. This is not God penalizing us. It is our choosing to break fellowship.

Go, in His love for us gave Himself to restore that fellowship.

Do not try to turn it around.

God knew that we must have suffering and trials if we are to learn obedience (Heb 5:8). God put us in a world that he knew was under the sway of Satan. God allowed us to be tempted and IMHO God knew that we would sin.

To fully understand this I believe one has to look at why God allows suffering to begin with. God has had a plan form the beginning which it is not possible to fully understand, but we know that all that God does is good, that all that he does is done in love. God allowed this world for a reason and that reason in part was to learn obedience.

In one sense, it seems like a "setup job". But we have no choice but to believe that the Son of God (Jesus)
sacrificed His life so that through faith in Him we can have everlasting life in His presence.
Jesus paid the price...we then get the everlasting benefit from His death.
